... and people complain the price is going up! No kidding. All you guys are taking bell for a ride on deals, its just making the majority of its customers having to pay more to cover the lost on the so called "loyal" customers. A loyal customer is one who pays the price on time and doesnt betray them with threats that they will leave. Are you loyal to your friends? Do you blackmale them for a deal?
Heres some advice for Bell, if they want to leave, let them go! And get rid of your rentention departments, youll save a few hundred thousand right there.

Sammy, I woudn't have mentionned, if I was you being an agent and getting the 35% discount. I belive agents are not eiligible to receive any retention offer since they are already getting a monthly rebate. EV is looking at this site and would probably investigate to see who you are.

The amount that retention departement is able to give out will be different fom one client to another. The amount is based on the following criterias:
-How long client has been with EV
-Monthly amount of the bill
-Payment history
-If client has other services with Bell

It also depends on the reason why a retention offer is being made... If client has a persistent problem for example, or something that took a long time to get resolved

Just got off the phone with a Bell retention specialist.

I'm a long time Bell customer. In September, when I threatened to cancel, they offered me 20% off my bill for one year.

I just took advantage of the Shaw winback / free hd pvr offer. so I called to cancel and here's what they offered me

40% off my bill for one year

With Shaw, I would be paying approximately $80 / mo for their HD Plus package, including Movie Central / HBO. (through time and a few Shaw winback offers, I've amassed 2 - dct 700s, and 1, 3416 hd pvr plus the free one they gave me this time).

Bell would now be $88 / mo for their HD package, including Movie Central, HBO and rental of 1, 9200, 2, 4100s.

Not sure what to do, however I did tell the bell csr that I'm frustrated that I have to get to the point of canceling to get the similar type of price that Shaw is offering.

I currently have 1 9200 and 3 4100 with a contract expireing in a couple of months. Just got an email from bell that they would trade one of the 4100 for a new 9250 but I must pay for installation and sign a 1 yr deal. That was it for thier offer. I stated that Shaw now has a all in one package in my area that will save me over $100/m but they don't seem to care. Looks like my days with bell are limited.

They often have a 2 for one deal (one month free) or similar promos. I would check the Bell web site first. These deals are often offered to all customers and can sometimes be obtained repeatedly, after canceling for a few months.

If it is anything like Rogers, they do not care, as long as there is a card, if that model requires one.

I know several Rogers Technicians who have between them dozens of receivers, as they do not always hand them in at the end of the day.

If they offer you a retention deal ,say of a free HD PVR rental for 6 a months , a year etc... Are you under a new contract for that time period or are there penalties if you decide to leave.

I really do not understand what is your problem, if you call Bell they will send you any parts that you require. I have ordered parts many times and always got what I wanted.

My account was activated from suspension and when I turned on my 6100, it was cycling through the transponders (message 015 on screen). There was no signal. My 3100 was working fine. I checked the lines, ran a direct line, switched receivers, etc. I called tech support and after troubleshooting I was told it was a problem with the receiver. I brought it to the local electronics store and they hooked it up - still no signal.
I was initially offered a 6100 rental if I sent my defective receiver in (My current 6100 is purchased). I asked about the 6141 and was told I could get one of those instead (interesting how they didn't offer the new model upfront). I asked about owning a 6141 and was told I could buy one for $149.
After reading about some problems people were having, I'm starting to think my 6100 was affected from their end, especially since it worked fine before I suspended my account. After reading some of the retention offers, I think I could get a much better deal. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply Edmonton.
I am in Rogers territory unfortunately. Anyone know if Rogers is doing anything lately? I have not seen anything from them lately.

Thanks.

Any disconnection order must be done throught the retention departement. CSR's are not supposed to do open orders for disconnection...

My retention story was pretty cut and dry - I actually DID have an installation booked with Rogers since they were ready to give me a good deal with HD and discounts...

When I then called BEV to cancel, I got a VERY nice CSR in the retentions department that told me "we see you are a loyal customer" (I've been with EV for about 7 years) and "may I ask why you wish to cancel?"

I was very upfront and honest and told her that I was offered a really good deal with Rogers. She asked me if I was interested in hearing what they could counter offer with, and of course, I said "sure... I figured you would..." LOL

They offered me a free 9242 and 40% off my programming for the next 12 months. I did the math and this was only SLIGHTLY higher than what I would be paying with Rogers, but we also have the Premium Movies with BEV (not in the package from Rogers), so we're much better off that way.

For those that may be thinking "I'll just call and tell them I'm leaving"... a nickel's worth of free advice - although they SHOULD suggest something to keep you, be prepared to be left with nothing if they tell you "sorry" and then you may be left with nothing.

We don't know that EV will do a straight swap of 9242s for owned 9200s. That will happen for rentals though. Dish charges $199 for an upgrade and that offer started when their MPEG2 receivers that had only been out for a year. EV's offer doesn't sound so bad in that respect. Getting the $300 in credits is actually better than cash since you save the tax on services and rentals with credits. Either way, you end up renting or buying a receiver in a year. I doubt EV's receiver prices will drop much by then.

Now that I look at it again, you're right. Bell sure doesn't do a very good job of making their bills easy to understand. When I first looked at the bill, it showed the $300 credit after all the other services were added up, including taxes. But then I see they credited the taxes down lower too. Thanks, you just made me happier :)

When I called, went through menu to cancel service. That is when retentions will come on. I got $100 credit plus 50% off total programing package for 6 months. I was on an old Super 7 HD pkg . Best of luck.

I was told by the CSR that I was under no obligation,I could cancel EV at any time, just return rented 9242.But how that return would work...?Also I've been told I will have to pay the $20 monthly rental for the first 2-3 months, administrative reasons, and the 12 free months will be added after.
If I purchase the 9242 she says a charge of $299.99 will be added to my EV bill.
I'm thinking of going with the free 12 month rental and around Jan. 2010 looking for a new PVR. I imagine there will be a replacement for the 9242 by then.
