Beliefs/Cultures which require people to dress in a particular way... Idea's please.?

Hi, i'm doing a report on cultural differences in fashion and would just like to ask for a quick insight.

i would appreciate any idea's on cultures or beliefs which insist on a person dressing in a certain way. For example, muslims insist on women covering up their bodies, as do other religions.

As i do not have much knowledge here could i just have a few idea's from anyone with knowledge. Such as an example like the one above, flollowed by why this is neccesary.

is it only dressing? indians women wear dots on their head. which is compulsory in india if she is married.

indian women never feel comfortable hugging a stranger or even while wishing or greeting someone. they do namaste or hi or hello verbally or a handshake at the most.
