Sorry to start two threaRAB in one day but I just remembered that I saw this trailer too - with Jack Black and Mos Def - and it looks very funny. Anyone know anything about it?

Ive seen the trailer and it does look funny. Its out in the UK on the 15th Feb. Here is what is says on the BBC website about it:

"Be Kind Rewind
Jack Black and Mos Def play video shop employees who decide to re-create great moments from cinema, and become local celebrities in the process. Comedy from Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind director Michel Gondry"

SounRAB very interesting!

I saw this last night. It's an OK film. However, if you have seen the trailer you have seen nearly all the funny bits. i don't know if it was intentional either, but the acting is kinda poor. Maybe worth a watch when it comes out on DVD....Not jack Blacks best film.

Haven't seen myself yet, but appartently the story line is suppose to be that the 2 main guys are video rental shop workers and something goes wrong with the collection and to help prevent their advid eldery lady customer they have to refilm every film in the collection.

Michel Gondry's sweded trailer is so bad it's... bad.

Looking forward to the film.

Well it does explain this in the film....But i can tell you if you want.....See spoiler below....

He pi**es out all the magnetism that is in his body....

just got back from seeing it. as someone said before most of the funny bits are in the trailer. It has good moments but not enough of them and it wasnt as good as i expected. It is an ok film though, worth watching. Would be rubbish without JB.

Unfortunately I can't get to see Be Kind Rewind this week but according to Mark Kermode's review it's more accessible than The Science Of Sleep; however he seems to think that SOS is completely incomprehensible whereas I thought it made perfect sense. So I suspect Be Kind Rewind will be a bit too mainstream for some viewers.

Saw this film this afternoon and there's one visual joke near to the beginning that had me laughing for ages!!

Anyway, its a bit daft, a bit weak in places but overall I quite liked it and found it quite funny, some of the film remakes they do are hilarious and really imaginative.

Oh and Mos Def isn't as annoying as he was in 16 Blocks :D which I find to be a huge bonus!

I had been really looking forward to it, but found it *really* disappointing.

The entire last third just left me wondering what on earth I was watching.

A lot of people will be going to see this film on the strength of the trailer and will be surprised to find that it's not actually 90 mins of movie spoofs but actually quite a serious, touching tale of companionship in the face of adversity.

Yes the movie spoofs (particularly "Ghostbusters") are hilarious, but there's far more to this film than cheap laughs. The paper-thin pastiche characters of weirdo-conspiracy-guy Jerry and stupid-but-nice Mike transition from cringeworthy to genuinely loveable and the audience develops a genuine affection and bond with them.

Full marks to the filmmakers for having the bravery to ditch the standard Hollywood happy ending and instead end the film in such a poignant way - I cried.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and mrpuffin said "it was not as bad as I was expecting" :)

Me, too. Watched it last night and was rather disappointed. There were some good bits, for example breaking in to the bigger store to steal the projector. Just a shame they weren't more of them.

Also, there was a few cuts that made no sense and broke the flow of the film.

I found the use of music in parts quite unnecessary and quite annoying, if not distracting.

Total Film gave it 4 out of 5, I'd say it was closer to 2 out of 5.
