BBC2 Horror Double Bill

I started watching Frenzy recently (hadn't seen it for years) and I had very conflicting opinions. On the one hand, I loved the nostalgia and seeing all the London views back in the 70's.
On the other, it seemed really dated and "stagey".
A very interesting choice however!!

I have to admit, I don't know Deadly Strangers at all! :)

After Steptoe he became typecast in the role.

In Carry On Screaming (which I know was comedy anyway, but a great Hammer parody) he essentially played the detective as Harold Steptoe.

I really really love your choices!!!
I would SO watch these every weekend.
Are you a BBC programmer by any chance? If not, you should be!!! :D

These 70's tv movies were amazing! Some of them were so creepy. I think they'd work quite well as part of a BBC2 Horror Double Bill season! Thanks for bringing them up!

Do you also remember Gargoyles, Trilogy of Terror, Devil Dog:Hound of Hell and The Spell?

As for what gets shown, it depenRAB who owns the rights. Some films mentioned have been on quite recently, eg Night of the Demon, Masque of Red Death, Vampire Circus ......

Just finished watching Gatis' history, part 2! Strikingly, many of the people he interviewied looked just like zombies from a Romero film. Except Roy Ward Baker, who looks EXACTLY like Nosferatu! How about that?!

As I post this, am watching Brides of Dracula. Not grade 1 Hammer, but still welcome. Surely that can't be Quentin Crisp in the cast, playing a woman? ..........

We've tried to contact him on Twitter but not really had a response as yet.

I guess the Classic Horror Campaign could try and send a message to his agent? Would be great if he gave us a bit of public support!

Loving his "History of Horror" documentary on BBC4. :D
