Batman Begins

Finally got round in seeing this movie last night.Overall it's a pretty good movie.I did find it dragged on in bits.

The Gary Oldman character does he later on become Commisoner Gordon?

I would have liked to have seen some more scenes with The Scarecrow character i thought the scenes that he was in were slightly rushed.

The rumour that Crispin Glover will play the Joker in the Batman Begins sequel have been dismissed by the actor. He has that they are strictly internet based but he would love the opportunity to do it. He hopes that the rumours might rub off on the studio and he may get the part!

I saw the film last night and it does have some great points, but it also has some bad ones.

Showing how and why Bruce Wayne created the Batman personna and how he learnt the skills needed to battle crime, plus where he got all his gadgets and gizmos from was very nice to see and never touched on in any of the other movies. They all with the exception of the first Burton/Keaton Batman made it look like he just woke up one morning and said "I want to be Batman and fight crime." Then he walked downstairs behind a bookcase and into the Batcave already kitted out with the tools needed to do the job and said, "wow, that was lucky."

Nice of the film to really show how the character came to life.

The bad side was when he finally became Batman there just was not enough of Batman kicking ass and taking names. The film really did drag at times and then ended so abruptly when things we getting going. I hope the sequel much like the Spiderman films after setting the story so to speak and covering the how the character came to be elements, now just focuses on supplying us with kickass explosive action in the sequel.

They've basically suggested the next villian already, so we can know what to expect from the sequel. It should be a darker version of the first Batman movie really, same villian, same end result just a bit darker and more hardcore between beginning and end.

Or (if his responses in another thread are anything to go by)he might email the CEO of LoveFilm!

:D

P.S. I'm also staggered that he reported you.

Seen the film a few days ago, liked it very much. I was a bit young when the original film came out so this is the first Batman film that I have seen and enjoyed. Have heard that there are going to be 2 sequals, does anyone know what the storylines are going to be? remakes of Batman Returns and one of the others?

Batman Begins cast members have been talking about whether they've been signed to any potential sequels:

Christian Bale - Says that he is definitely signed to play the Dark Knight again. "We got a sense of who he is, but there's so much [more]. The psychology of the guy, to me, is fascinating. The guilt element you can expand on. You can expand visually as well. I haven't spoken with anybody about this, but I just really think it would be nice to come up with some kind of R-rated version, too, like a movie that is at one time PG and R, where you do two different edits for it."

Chris Nolan - He is not signed to direct any further films. "I don't really know. I did enjoy making this one. It's a fascinating character."

Morgan Freeman - "I'm not. I'm not sure that they really think that Lucius is an integral part of the series necessarily. But Commissioner Gordon absolutely has to be. Alfred absolutely has to be."

Gary Oldman - "I'm signed."

Michael Caine & Katie Holmes - Caine said of both of them "No, no. We're not signed." He then turned to Holmes and said "I mean, we'd do it, wouldn't we?" Holmes nodded affirmatively.

I just hope that Batman Begins is successful so do get these possible sequels!

I thought that it was let down badly by the script. Everything else was fine but you would think with the amount of reference material they could have put soemthing together with a bit more sparkle. I still think that Michael Keating played the best Batman though.

None of the Batman Begins sequels will be remakes of the previous Batman films as Batman Begins is a restart of the franchise!
There are rumoured storylines for the sequel but nothing has been confirmed yet apart from the fact that Katie Holmes wont be part of the sequels and that the Joker will appear!

Mothus, do you think we get RAB to sticky this to the top of the movie forum? ;) :D

Rumours for the 2nd and 3rd movies are:

Joker is the main villian in the 2nd movie. At the end he get caught. 3rd movie starts, with Joker on trial. He manages to sneak acid into the courtroom and throw it over the prosecuting attorney, Harvey Dent, who then becomes Two-Face.

Yeah I was about to post that as well. It sound like a very interesting rumour as I think Johnny Depp would make a great Joker but I cant see it happening!
I was surprised to read about the character of Talia with Rachel Weisz playing her appearing the sequel as I really expected her to feature in Batman Begins and was very disappointed that she didnt especailly with Talia being the daughter of Ra's Al Ghul so maybe Ra's Al Ghul will make a brief appearance in the sequel as well!

Just back from seeing it, overall pretty good has a few faults but it's certainly better than Joel Schumachers franchise killing effort and puts batman back the way he is suppose to be "Dark" I Prefer this to Batman and Batman returns because it's the closest to the comics, also has more meat on it's bones, story, origin more depth etc, Gotham city looked okay alot diff than previous incarnations, I'd of thought with all the advancements in costume making that batman would have have been just a tinsy winsy bit more agile, the costume still suffers abit from stiff neck syndrome and looks silly in places, it's a pretty close comic adaption tho, I liked it...dunno how someone can think the punisher is a better film, now that movie IS crap, and the complaint about it focusing more on Bruce Wayne, Uhm...it's called Batman begins, it's not going to start with some bloke on screen saying "Feck it! I'm gonna whoop abit of criminal arse for the sake of it!" it does need to explain Bruce Wayne and the reasons for him going abit pyscho. :p :D

Johnny Depp is a great character actor. Don't think i'll ever seen him do evil though, so could be very interesting, a possibly a reason he's a (allegedly) interested in the role.

I really hope this bat flies. Batman & Robin was so awful. I saw it one afternoon in an almost empty cinema. An old couple walked out after 15mins, the only other people were a couple with 2 boys around 7 or 8 years old who I could hear sneering and mocking the whole thing! (remember the bit where lab assistant Uma falls onto a table with chemicals on it and comes up wearing a Poison Ivy costume? Really...)

'Comic book' shouldn't stand for 'no logic whatever'. The X-Men films work cause they have fantastical characters but treat them with respect. If the peril has no basis in any kind of reality there's no excitement. That bit where Batman and Robin 'surfed' off a missle was so poor. The new film looks like it's getting back to basics - a screwed up guy with a hatred of criminals doing it all off his own, er, bat. Superman's rubbish, hardly anything can kill him, Batman puts his life on the line everytime.

I've always found Spider-Man to be lacklustre and frankly... boring....
Daredevil.... lets not even begin!! :)

Batman Begins has its issues.... Its too pacey for a start... but its the single best comic book adaption yet. I've no doubts of that...

If you thought this was bad, wait till Fantastic Four is out!!

It's not a remake... It's not a continuation of the franchise (Joel Schumacher successfully killed that version off, to the extent that it would be very difficult to follow...) It's a reboot of the franchise which follows the comic books more closely than ever.

I do find it interesting that people are happy to completely mess with comic book mythology in a way that you really wouldn't get away with other novels... Gun toting Jane Austin anyone?.. ;)

I think Cillian Murphy has really made his mark on Hollywood with this film.

His "He's here... the Bat Man" line was nothing short of chilling... and really well acted....

Great ensemble cast, and I can't wait to see who will be playing
the joker
in the sequel....

Plus there is plenty of space for
The Scarecrow to return, as he is seemingly no longer Crane
