In response to the whole, "who killed his parents" question:

In the 1989 Batman, it was established that Joe Napier-who would become The Joker-killed Bruce's parents. However, this was something that director Tim Burton made up in order to make the movie work. In the original Batman Comics, it was, in fact, Joe Chill who killed them.

Two-Face killed Dick Grayson's family.

I saw a preview for Batman Begins when I went to see Revenge of the Sith the other day. It looks really good. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

I enjoyed the movie myself and I agree that it was better than the previous ones. They were too campy and silly. I was surprised that Rachel knows at the end that Bruce is Batman.

I went in with a meh attitude and was pleasantly surprised. I thought it was great. Katie Holmes added zero to the movie, so no big loss in leaving her out in any other ones they do. I was most surprised by Oldmans Gordon. Very nice and understated. Morgan Freeman is always wonderful.

Couldn't find a picture, but that's how the Batmobile looks in the most important Batman comic ever written, The Dark Knight Returns.

I rather like it, if the animated series look wasn't going to be used. Better than that rediculous coupe they had going on from the 4th film...

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this tomorrow. Hopefully, it'll be better than those previous two really bad Batman movies, especially the one with Arnold.

This is one of the few new comic book movies I'm really looking foward to.

Christian Bale will make a great Batman I think. And it looks like they stayed close to the comics. As long as Joel Schumacher stayed away from that set I'm happy. :)

I was at that Batman panel at Comicon. Cillian looked a lot like Christian with his hair cut like that. They really didn't have anything for us. They couldn't even tell us what Scarecrow would look like.

It was really nice to have real fans ask some questions to the writer. It was nice to be in such a crowd. You could see the writer getting very nervous about the questions. I'm hoping for the best. Can't wait.

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Fresh from shooting "The Machinist" in tourist-friendly Barcelona, it was a shock for Christian Bale to begin filming "Batman Begins" in bleak and chilly Iceland.

"It's fvcking cold in Iceland. And they eat whales -- they eat anything -- puffins," jokes Bale, who doesn't consume red meat.

Actually, the actor's true challenge came from the region's geography. Bale recalls one of his first scenes shot on one of the country's many glaciers.

"We were out there and it was splitting -- there were big cracks appearing down it -- and we all had to stand still and not break it," he tells Zap2it.com. "By the next day there was all this water again."

For Bale -- whose career oscillates between mainstream films like "Shaft" and those with cult followings like "Velvet Goldmine" -- "Batman Begins" is his most high-profile and expensive project to date with an estimated $135 million budget. The film stars Bale as the brooding Bruce Wayne whose dark past leads him to go vigilante on Gotham's criminal element.

Although the role of the Dark Knight has been played several times before, most recently by George Clooney in 1997's "Batman & Robin," Bale never grasped the psychology of the popular DC Comics character.

"I always found it kind of laughable," he admits. "The guy thinks he's going to be scary by walking around dressed as a bat? I'd laugh at him. I'd look at him and go, 'What kind of nutcase are you? Get out of my face.'"

Donning the hero's signature cape and cowl finally helped the actor get into the character's head.

"Adopting this different persona helps him to maintain that kind of intensity [to fight crime]," explains Bale. "I also felt that he couldn't be anything else but a creature: partly out of necessity of disguise, but also out of his own necessity of an attempt to keep himself sane in his own life."

This attitude also helped Bale with his own state of mind.

"I just felt that once I put that on, it's like if I don't play it this one certain way, then I'm just going to feel like an idiot standing in a bat suit the whole time," he says.

Batman Begins is looking really good; when is DC going to stop dragging its heels, and put together a decent Superman flick? When they do, this is definitely the creative team and approach to do it with.

let's hope so lol.

more news! from superherohype...

Batman Begins Shooting at Canary Wharf Today! Source: The Z Review Friday, March 12, 2004

Gary from The Z Review dropped this tip on us about Batman Begins filming in London today...

Hot news just in. Batman Begins is filming in London's Canary Wharf TODAY. And even more importantly they are filming the Batmobile! They will be filming scenes in Excel Tower with scenes of the Batmobile possibly on a turntable. While I'm not sure what the scene is, could this be a scene of Batman getting a hold of the Batmobile for the first time? I'm sure you'd all have loved us to get pics of the filming for you today and I can assure you we would have, unfortunately the land they are filming on is Private Property and Warner's would have been well within their right to sue our *ss off if we took snooper pics!

We're pretty sure the studio will keep things under wraps, but if you get a peek at anything be sure to send us a note!

Cillian Murphy Talks Batman Begins Source: USA Today Friday, March 12, 2004

USA Today talked to actor Cillian Murphy, who can next be seen in "Intermission"...

The actor goes to London in April for Batman Begins, directed by Chris Nolan (Memento) with Christian Bale as the Caped Crusader. Murphy, who is the evil Scarecrow, is confident this fourth sequel will revive the franchise done in by 1997's Batman & Robin. "We've got the best director we could get and an amazing cast."

While Batman Begins is not really the "fourth sequel," it's still a cool bit. Thanks to 'Joe Wolfe' for the heads up.

I wonder too, but I'm sure this one will be great even after The Dark Knight. This one starts a little slow but it really gets going after the first hour.

saw this flim last night for first time...after wanting to know what the big fuss about this movie was about.

it turns out that the film wasn't that bad...but it's 5 times better than the previous Batman movies. Not sure if Christian Bale was the right choice for Batman...i just didn't like him that much. OH yea, rachel and Bruce as a couple was a joke. Saw no chemistry between Katei/Christian...it seems forced and awkward.

The only thing i liked most about the film was the transformation of Bruce Wayne when he was in jail to becoming Batman including all the action in between.

Thanks for the explanation. I thought Katie's character was okay. I mean she wasn't horrible or anything like that, although the whole recent TomKat media blitz did kinda make me a bit annoyed with Katie. But I thought she did a decent job for a role that didn't reallie require that much to begin with. I just read somewhere that it looks like she won't be back for the sequel so it'll be interesting to see how her character plays into the sequel. But yea, the movie was reallie reallie great. And most definitely will plan on seeing it again ... :D

Roger Ebert gives it :star::star::star::star:

6 hours until I can see it! :yay:

Oh my god! I heard Sean Penn was playing the Joker too. That would be interesting since I can't him as anything but a his puppet version in 'Team America' ;)

I totally agree, this Batman was much more realistic and not comical like the previous ones.

I about died when Christian Bale got out of bed and just fell to the floor to do push up. Apparently I made this little girlish giggle in the silence of the cinema. Oophs!
