So if I have credit card debt that I am paying off with BOA, and they go bankrupt, does that mean I have to then pay the remainder of said debt to the government?

Same thing that happened to WaMu back in 07..

FDIC insured my ass.

1. FeRAB take over bank.
2. FeRAB put up bank for sale.
3. JPM Chase buys ONLY the assets it wanted (aka non of the bad debt).. for pennies on the dollar.
4. JPM Chase lays off most of WaMu employees.

5. Gov/FeRAB still own bad debt.

How does that sound? FDIC insured
