Back to the Future on DVD

i love the movies they are wonderful love all 3 of them. just say if they made back to the furture 4 do you think it would work?

Give me a few minutes.

Also, the website says that the new BTTF 3 discs will have a R1 on it to show it has been corrected, but mine has R2 on it. What does that mean?!

Paddy :D

You obviously don't have a clue about the hassle Universal got from UK fans regarding the first BTTF trilogy DVD boxsets released, do you? of course I know why most boxsets are re-released! But this is one rare case where they actually have a legit reason to do so. I certainly care about my favourite trilogy not being correctly framed in widescreen for its original DVD release. The original DVD's for II & III were awful, and this R2 re-release is the first time I can get the discs in 3 superior formats:

1) PAL picture (much higher in resolution then the US equivalent NTSC that until now was the only country where you could get the corrected discs from).

2) DTS audio on the R2 releases, not present on any of the R1 releases.

3) All 3 films correctly framed in 1.85:1 widescreen. ------>> http://www.angelfire.com/film/bttf2/

Well, it says also on the website that the new V2 discs were made after the 3rd April 2003, and mine were last modified on the 16th April 2003, so maybe I got lucky?!

PS, the screenshot you sent me is the same as I sent you! So I must have a good set!

Yes and this re-release has NOTHING to do with that "hassle" and EVERYTHING to do with making more money from the same films. Jaws has also had a re-release this year and also I see a "new" Star Wars boxset on the shelves this Christmas. Are they released because "fans are demanding it"?
I'm glad you're happy to have your correctly framed DVRAB, my original boxset is also correctly framed and I didn't pay any extra money or have to give "hassle" to Universal!

Yeah, you must! Lucky you. :D

Where did you buy it from though? You are from Ireland and not the UK so that could be why, or you bought from an online store which actually managed to get the R2 corrected discs. However I still think it's safe to say that no in-store retailers in the UK ever got the corrected versions of BTTFII & III prior to the reissued R2 boxsets recently released, two companies who definately never did were HMV (online store and in-stores) and PLAY.com. I have BTTF.com as my very reliable source there. ;)

I gave plenty of evidence! Star Wars is back on the shelves! The Terminator movies have had numerous re-releases. Titanic has been re-released in two versions available currently. Jaws has an "anniversary" edition out. Toy Story and Toy Story 2 has been re-released. I could go on and on and on and on. The studios have done this since the days of VHS,this is not an opinion but a well established marketing ploy.
The DVD producers run a business and a very lucrative one at that. They don't respond to "hassle" by releasing new boxsets, they respond to the potential of making more money!
If money was not the deciding factor in this cynical re-release, then this box set would be available free to anyone who could produce the old boxset for exchange. I suppose the fourth disc is a "gift" to the fans for all the "hassle" they have endured due to the errors on the last set?:p

Are you still harping on about this?
To anyone still reading this thread::yawn:
Only buy this new boxset if you don't already have a copy!:)

Or rather:
