Back to the Future on DVD

Hi Guys,

This is the first time I have heard of the mis-framing, though I do remember when watching it at first that i felt something wasnt right.

I called Universal UK about getting the discs replaced, they said however they couldnt help as my discs are Region 1 (playusa.com) :(

Does anyone know if the USA branch of Universal will replace them for me? or do I need to go through playUSA.com?

thanks guys

They probably think your complaining to them because you have R1 discs and you are in R2.

If you go to the website posted in the original post, they have all the contact details and information you need. You will get yours replaced, don't worry.

I just rang up Universal customer services on : 0870 590 0909

to ask what to do about this, they said if you dont have a reciept, photocopy the cover of the box set and discs and send it with a letter to the following address:

Customer Services, Universal Music
Chippenham Drive, Kingston
Milton Keynes, Bucks, MK10 0AT, England

and they will send out a replacement.

I hope this helps

I do actually own the US trilogy release that was later released with the correct framing. I refunded the UK release before that. Some people may not be bothered but I am and I think the framing errors on the original DVD releases, Back to the Future Part II especially were awful. One of my favourite gags especially was completely ruined by the misframing.

Just like I cannot stand people who buy a widescreen TV and leave it on the WIDE setting 24/7 so that all non-widescreen broadcasts end up looking a complete mess as a result of their clueless knowledge in the digital realm (the so-called squashed effect). They then watch all of their 16:9 widescreen DVRAB in the 4:3 full screen standard with the TV in WIDE because they don't even realise that you actually have to go into the DVD setup menu and change the settings of the DVD player to match that of the TV's to be able to watch widescreen films in 'widescreen' in the first place.

^^^Do you mean send the photocopies of the Cover and Discs or the acutal discs? Just checked my copy which I bought when it first came out and found it to be a faulty version. So if I photocopy or in my case scan the cover and discs, send a letter explaining the problem, they'll send out good discs?

I don't disagree with you here. The only thing I took issue with was your assertion that Universal were being somehow magnanimous in their re-release of this boxset. It was a purely business decision which had nothing to do with appeasing disgruntled widescreen ratio fans!

send a photocopy of the cover and a photocopy of the two affected discs, this proves you own the disc if you dont have the reciept

I know what you mean , they always seem to do that with trilogy box sets they bring them out on dvd then just as most people have the trilogy they bring the trilogy out again with a xtra disc

I have the 3 disc dvd set but im really thinking of getting the 4 disc set cause i have seen it about really cheap and there sounRAB like there is alot of good things on the 4th disc.
Does anyone have the 4 disc set and what do you think of the 4th disc? ;)
