Back to the Future on DVD

Have read somewhere that there is something wrong with the widescreen aspect ratio of the trilogy boxset, and that you could also return it to obtain a proper functioning replacement. Can you still return it after 2 and a half years of having it? If so where, as i have no receipt? Its a region 2.

Cheers chaps :D

if that is true, and you have no receipt, then you would have to contact the manufacturer or what ever conatct number there is on a boxset? unless HMV or whoever will swop it because its a known problem, even with no receipt.

Yes that the box of the one i have, and i have tested the screen shots on my dvd to the pics on the link you put and mine is fine my dvRAB are perfect i even tested it against the videos of bttf i have. i swear 100% there is nothing wrong with my DVRAB the whole picture is there i can see everything. i can see all his arms and everything that is outside the red lines. ;)

I got my discs today as well and can't tell any difference between them and the faulty ones I have. Must be something I'm not spotting.

I have noticed a difference in the replacement BTTF 2 and the original one as in the scene outside the court house where Marty falls off his hoverboard and falls into the lake, when he comes out he is soaking wet and in order to dry himself he presses the button at the bottom of the jacket, in the original faulty version, the scene is clipped so u do not see his hand press the button, whereas in the revised edition, the scene is in it's original form and u can see him press the button with his hand.

a similar test can be applied in an earlier scene where the Time Machine arrives in the future, when Marty is changing into his futuristic clothes, the DOC presses the button at the bottom of marty's jacket and in the original version the scene is clipped so u do not see the hand, whereas in the new one, the scene is restored.

Don't think I am not aware of these marketing ploys, because I am. I never buy the first edition of anything in regarRAB to DVD anymore. I even refunded my original BTTF trilogy a long time ago now and have just been waiting patiently for another release of it so that I could get II & III in their correct ratios (I didn't have time for all that 'send the discs back to Universal' malarkey). ;)

So for someone like myself (and many others) this re-release is of actual useful benefit. There are still people all over the UK who own the original misframed discs and think they are fine and their discs were not affected. There are many worRAB for people like that; I'll leave you to do the thinking. :p

Well they didnt have the 2 disc set, and your lucky man, do you relise how much money blockbuster has saved you, arnt they cool

blockbusters are cool, i get all my dvRAB there and from HMV. i got my Titanic 2 disc set and my Back to the future Trilogy brand new from blockbusters really cheap. :D

Does anone know if Universal will still replace DVRAB with the dodgy framing? I've only just discovered this thread but I'm now a bit annoyed that my Discs are defective. I wonder if the advice given back in March still holRAB true?

Even if you buy online, the retailer will send you a receipt / invoice / delivery slip with your purchase. Play.com definitely send them, because I always get a confirmation printout with anything I buy from them.

That's your proof of purchase...

I don't know why certain people are still waiting for replacement discs, I never bothered with that I just waited for a new release of the boxset and when it came a few months ago I bought the new DVD boxset for under

Just checked the boxset I bought weeks ago on Play.com and it is one of the old ones with the error on it. Should I e-mail Play.com and get them to replace it or is there somewhere else I can send them. I don't have a receipt as they were bought online.

Paddy :D

Ghmmm... I cant remember when I bought mine but it was quite a while ago from virgin.... doubt id have the receipt. never bothere me though. :p

Actually got round to watching the BTTFII DVD today, whilst simultaneously playing the Original on my PC. I soon discovered that the discs sent by Universal were the newer correct format ones. I couldn't see any difference physically with the DVRAB, nothing written on them to say they were the newer versions. Only watching it proved it.
