AvP2's Predalien

Meh. Can this film really be as bad as the original? I like the Directors' mutual approach to bring in back to its origins. Hopefully it will be scarier.

To me the name 'Predalien' is the stupid thing.

An alien is a generic name. A Predator is an alien, so the name 'Predalien' doesn't make sense.

Havn't you seen the trailer? That 2 minute trailer is better than the ENTIRE first movie. I can't wait to see this and will blow Andersons shite effort out of the water for sure. The only bad thing this film has going for it is being attached to Andersons lame attempt in the first place and people are gonna have reservations about seeing it, potentially damaging it's popularity from the outset.

Paddy :D

I've not seen the trailer. And although it's good if it's good, the trailer for the first movie was also good. In fact, the trailer for the first movie was better than the ENTIRE first movie.

Yes, that's the point. That's how the alien adapts and survives to whatever environment it's in.

The original alien only looked the way it did because we only ever saw it mix with human DNA.

That's what the alien looks like by taking on human DNA.
This is what the alien looks like by taking on Predator DNA.
It's just that we aren't used to seeing the aliens taking on other species' DNA before, because the previous films just featured humans as the alien hosts.

In Alien3 - the alien was distinctly dog-like in its appearence and movement, which also fits with the DNA mixing theory.

I cant think how else a predator/alien hybrid would look - afterall - a predator is pretty much human in shape - apart from the jaws and dreadlocks.

IMO this looks cool.

Doing alien and predator movies together sucks. It destroys all the great work of the Alien films and the original predator movie

Ah yes, you're quite right.
I was reading about that somewhere but forgot about it.
My mistake, we've only seen the alien mix with humans and dogs before.

Yes I did read that the alien in Alien 3 did take on dog's DNA and that was part of the explanation why they were on all fours running around the corridors.

The idea is that they take on their victims' DNA to evolve in shape in order to adapt to a new environment they may find themselves in that their victim more than likely lived in.
Considering that their method of reproduction mainly involves using a different species as a host it makes perfect sense. They take on some elements of their victim in order to try to adapt and survive to new environments.

Because it would be pretty crap in evolutionary terms if they picked some kind of fish as a victim and then ended up drowning when the new alien was born.

I don't think that there's a rule that says that the movie has to suck by putting predators and aliens together, I think that it's more dependant on who's making the film and the decisions they decide to make.
There's every chance that a good director and writer should be able to make it work very well.

I don't know, even the Queen is probably a hybrid of other species which have been killed before.

The alien form we are more familiar with is the one that came after that giant dead pilot in the first alien film then passed over to the form taken from humans. So the alien form which we are more familiar with will have the DNA of the species of that 'pilot' as part of it's genetic makeup.

What we know as the original alien form is probably just an adaption and evolution of the original alien form itself which we have never seen.
