Avatar? The Hangover? Best Film? Is this a joke?

About 50000 other films that are not called Avatar or The Hangover.

Oh... what's happening, erm... I feel odd... I feel an uncontrollable urge to laugh at nonsense - Oh My God! A film about a Hangover! Ha Ha Ha! Hilarious... this film could never be predictable and obvious. I bet they WILL NOT get involved in a lot of strange Vegas themed activities because that would be far too convenient.

Hmm... now, a James Cameron film - maybe he won't use millions and millions of pounRAB of special effects.

OK, change the word 'are' to 'is' and it should make more sense.

And if we're going to turn this into a debate about grammar, what does "...are not clearly true" mean?

Avatar is the 2nd highest grossing movie of all time, only $200m behind Titanic. One of only five films in history to break the $1bn mark. A movie wouldn't do that if it wasn't a good film.

Number three in the list is Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Now personally I don't like this film, but I definitely can not say that it is a crap film.

I guess there were too many worRAB there for you to take in so your felt since you couldn't understand it then it wasn't worthy - a lot like somebody who would think The Hangover and Avatar are good films because quality movie making like 500 days of Summer, Up in the Air etc etc are just difficult to understand.

That what I understood from your post.

They're far more civilised on IMDB - maybe that's why you couldn't appreciate the place. A bit of tension, fast editing from multiple camera angles to give that view of aggression and anger is missing and only visible on this forum, for you.

:)

I guess anything that requires you to sit around and concentrate for a while without heavily laden Las Vegas symbolic imagery and very bright colours to truck you forward is just too much information - Dude!

Yeah - complete film narratives and unique structures are just too much to handle but I guess you've expressed your inability to see that to me. Thank You.

You see... we do see different things and you told me everything I need to know.

What was original about the Hangover? Are you telling me you have never seen a film like the Hangover before BUT you have seen films where a boy falls in love with a girl, falls out of love with her for her to marry somebody when she said she didn't want to get married and all this based upon social cliches and conventions? I would say 500 Days of Summer is highly original in the way it utilised social conventions and presented them.

The Hangover is about a Hangover.

I did enjoy I Love You, Man, far more than The Hangover but I was expecting far more from the film. The ending for ILYM was brilliant and brought a lot of things together where as the The Hangover just left me feeling disappointed, let down.

I think your argument just jumped the shark.

Everyone else who has seen those films knows what they're about, and everyone knows The Hangover isn't about a hangover.

(500) Days of Summer is a cool little film but it's a triumph of style over substance.

No - not always. However, if we're being comparative (i.e. comparing them to you), then yes.

Film about a Mafia Don
Film about an Apartment - what on earth is your point?

The Hangover is about a Hangover - it is about the Hangover. To say it is about what happened the night before the hangover is giving it, or desperately trying to give it:

Style over a non-existent substance.

It has not Style.
It has not Substance.

It has Hangover.

Anybody who doesn't see how good 500 Days of Summer is, is either:

a) Too Young
b) A product of Binge Drinking where emotional development has taken a backseat to Alcohol.

Hey, I didn't realise I entered a warzone , just giving my opinion. :) I meant I felt it was original for that kind of slacker guy movie, it wasn't the 'same' as all the others or as predictable the way it unravelled, and the setups were different to those I'd seen before. At the end we still didn't know where some of the animals came from. and I thought it was cool that we only figured out that
the nerdy guy drugged them with rohypnol to be their mate, at the same time that they found out
. I don't think any movie is 100% original nowadays, but it's nice to see a fresh approach on something that's been attempted many times, and to see it bettered.
Why are you so upset? what did you want to win?

You know I'm not a huge Avatar fan, but I can understand that for loaRAB of people it's a really big exciting movie for them, I feel differently, it doesn't really matter.try not to get so het up about it.

Hangover was the funniest film of 2009, I just dont see any room for debate on that....Its just tiring when people criticise for the sake of it...would love to see these "critics" do better...
