Of course, (500) Days of Summer was famously promoted as an Annie Hall (or should that be (Annie) Hall?) for the Noughties. So it was hardly an original plot, just an original execution of an old plot.
Yea a debate in a chat forum which no one in Hollywood will really give a damn about...I think the makers of Hangover will take their $460 million made worldwide and prove their point quite well with that...
I guess you can just conclude this thread by saying your opinion is part of the minority and really is nothing more than insignifcant because the box office results for the Hangover compared to 500 days.. or any other funny film last year, speaks volumes...
Yes critics arent always reliable...but based on crictics' reception, box office sales, general feedback, and mainly because of your failure "to laugh even once" during the hangover...you really shouldnt write anymore movie posts as you clearly cant be taken seriously...
P.S) It wouldnt surprise me if you one of the ignorant few who didnt like the Dark Knight...
I agree, it sort of reminded me abit of "The Way we were" too, and touches of Sliding doors.
That whole feeling of really wanting to make it work with someone, because you're sure they're 'the one' but the truth is, they may not be.
It was entertaining for sure and I did like it, I think the way it was marketed as a sleeper hit, I was expecting just that little bit more. Still a cute little movie.
i could have predicted you wouldn't throw up an offering, and just said instead "... not Avatar!"
do you know why? because you knew all too well i would have replied with
"what, that!? yes it's fun and enjoyable, but best movie??! LOLOLOLOL" like you did. you weren't prepared to have your choice perhaps subject to the same rude and derisory scoffing were you?
see what you fail to grasp, badly, is that whether a movie is your personal "best of the year" or not, is based on personal taste and opinion.
i don't really think this comparison is justified as the brits are well known for snubbing those artists coming from the x factor/got talent machine (e.g. leona being nominated for like 4 and receiving none, and no susan boyle this year) and as these are the biggest money makers then it seems your criticism of the brits is a little unfounded.
The GG's are voted for by about 95 people- 'The Hollywood Foreign Press Association'- who are kinda legendary for voting for the people who threw 'em the best party/ gave 'em the best swag. See: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/43663
You just like to attempt to wind people up here - I think it's a cognitive dissonance, because you actually have to wind yourself up in order to get your neeRAB met for winding others up.
The Dark Knight is a very good film. Unlike a lot of recent films it's well-written, well-acted and directed with considerable flair. Not liking it doesn't make you ignorant (that's logically questionable anyway - can ignorance ever be a consequence of aesthetic judgments, philosophy fans?) but I would suggest that it wasn't to your taste rather than being a bad - or boring - film.
The Hangover isnt an original film- but it was funny and engaging and likeable. I think its one of the best COMEDIES of the year. Prob not best film...
Avatar however...... hmmm- effects over plot again?? Its not the best ANYTHING of the year except CGI maybe.
I wouldnt class 2009 as a good year for film tbh, although cinema attendance figures are up. Ill blame that on the recession- its a cheap night out!
Good films of 2009:
Slumdog Millionaire
The Wrestler
watchmen
Star Trek (for the cameraderie more than anything)
The Hangover
Moon (one of the best!)
Harry Brown
