Attending a Winter Wedding & in desperate need of Fashion Advice!?

I'm going to a wedding this weekend, and it is supposed to be really cold about 25 degrees. I really have no idea what to wear lol.

The wedding is supposed to be more on the formal side than the casual side. So as much as I would like to wear something like leggings and a sweater dress (or even pants lol!) to stay warm I really feel like I need to wear a nice dress. The problem is that EVERYTHING i'm seeing is sleeveless, strapless, backless, etc. The few dresses that have sleeves are either really matronly/old lady, or just don't fit me right.

Most of the dresses that I own are too summery looking for this time of year, but I have a black sleeveless cocktail dress that I'm leaning towards wearing. I have a sweater similar to this in black:

Will that be too much black for a wedding?

I tried on this dress at the mall:

I like that it is not black, I could wear the black flyaway sweater with it, and I could see myself wearing it again. Plus it was only $30.

~ ~ ~ Now for the other big question ~ ~ ~

Being this time of the year should I be wearing pantyhose or tights? I absolutely despise wearing pantyhose lol (and really don't like the feel of tights either), but would it be trashy to have bare legs this time of year? I have a decent tan, so its not that I'm pasty. And it's not like tights or pantyhose really keep you that much warmer when its 20 degrees. I'm thinking if I wore tights with the black cocktail dress that could be too much black/look weird, but could I wear tights with the silver tiger stripe dress?

~ ~ ~ As for shoes I was planning on wearing some really cute black closed toe shoes, but could I get away with black boots similar to these?

Or would that edge on the trashy side?
