Exactley. A Fee and Fee / Verizon / T-Mobile need to realize that there are alot more people out there realizing that one does not save money by spending it, which is why cricket/metro/boost are so attractive. They are a cell phone provider, which these days, are a dime a dozen, there 20th century business model of raping people is just about over.

So I am hoping that cricket tells at&t to go sit and spin if they offer to buy them up, nothing good will come out of it.

I wonder what happens to the Cricket dealers if this happens.

AT&T May Be Poised to Buy Leap Wireless

Even as mobile users eagerly await the possible release of a new iPhone at Apple's (AAPL) upcoming developers

It seems like an odd corabination given the (already recognized) incompatibility between GSM and CDMA.

However, Cricket did do extremely well in the AWS auctions and acquired a large amount of spectrum that would be very attractive to AT&T for their future LTE expansion.

true but i mean i dont think they want to pull a sprint ( Sprint trying to make CDMA and iDEN work) i Think Cricket Should buy out MetroPCS and maybe work out a deal with US Cel and Pocket and Blue Grass and make a super Cricket. but thats just me.

I'm also in the same boat, and people give me bizarre looks when I tell them I am with Cricket. However I am paying 60 bucks a month for everything and have a good phone while they pay like 80 bucks for limited service and a crap phone. If we could get the proxy pulled we would really be in business.

If AT&T buys Leap, they will just roll out LTE devices and go from there. CDMA and GSM are both old technologies and both are leaving in the future anyway.

AT&T bought the parts of Alltel that Verizon had to sell off, don't know what they actually got but considering Alltel is CDMA the timing seems interesting.

My first thought is that ATT would buy Leap in order to squelch competition. With so many layoRAB folks are cancelling their postpaid contracts and switching to Cricket/metro.

Ideas:
Cricket, Buys Out MetroPCS, corabines with US Cell*since they are looking for a buyer anyway* gets Blue Grass and Pocket to Join up with them, maybe even pick up a few Alltel Divest if not, oh well wait a few get more money then Roll out LTE.

idea 2, pick up some small companys, and just start rolling out LTE.

Cricket has more areas they cover and cricket has more custmores then MetroPCS i know we both have die hard fans of Metro and Cricket I still know people that work in Metro and from what they have told me, They are not doing so hot, im not going to say cricket is burning either but yeah, and if MetroPCS was doing that great why in the bloody hell dont they have 3G i mean come on, your saying that Cricket is not that great and Metro is better, then show me 3G on MetroPCS, yes ive heard they are testing it out in some areas and ive heard that Atl has 3G over there but Cali is one of there bigger markets and i have yet to see any MetroPCS phone with 3G. No Wireless Company is prefect nor will they ever be. If anything i would say Cricket should Buy Metro out and that will be that, a few have said that will not happen, fine let it not happen, but sooner or later they are going to have to come together and take pick up the smaller companys and maybe pick up US Cell or something, the way they are going they can not last for much longer,
Cricket and MetroPCS share the same bord merabers so its like they have been in bed with each other for years know, they all know what the other is planing and going to do, they might as well just become one comany call it CricketPCS lol or something.

I mean come on damn Virgin mobile has 3G, yes i know they use sprints network but yeah. Anyhow i will stand by and support cricket to the bitter end. and i love them cause they where the 1st company to fire up 3G in our area 1 year later Sprint came in with 3G then AT&T and then VZW im glad someone gave us some 3G love, and it was Cricket, so Cricket your on the top of my list.

In the end im sure i wont change peoples mind, those who love Metro will love Metro and those who love cricket will love cricket. I love Cricket, Im happy with them, now if they will get some PDA phones aka HTC's with BlackBerrys that will be kick ***, MetroPCS im glad you guys have BB's thats kick ***, but get your 3G up and running, im not going to wait like over 10mins to get my e-mail on my phone, where i can get large files on my Sprint BB or my AT&T BB in like under 1min.

ok thats my rant.

I mostly like your ideas. I think Metro and Cricket should merge and buy out smaller companies that are doing good financially. Then, they should continue to expand and have LTE. I just don't want our nice regional companies to take on too much debt. :)

I think the biggest thing to take away from this is that Cricket is doing well enough that AT&T is interested. The fact that Cricket's stock went up 3% is very telling. I would think from a business perspective this could possibly give board merabers faith in taking over MetroPCS by possibly merging with some smaller companies.

Your facts are all wrong. I will say that metroPCS is larger then cricket. Read last quarter customer adRAB, you will see metroPCS had the best Quarter in there company history. Cricket decided to build out EVDO, metro tested the idea but decided to instead bypass EVDO and go straight to LTE. Although I dont think it will happen soon metroPCS should acquire cricket and eventually get bought out by a larger player.

If cricket and metro want to keep up, they need to work together, and quick, because alone, one or both may be tempted to sellout.

Or the bigger carriers will drop there price and just price cricket and metro out of the market, then raise prices again.

Please STOP saying that Cricket will buy metro and metro will buy Cricket. IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. Jesus people, your dreaming is just completely off base. We want FACTS. If it was released to shareholders and stock prices went up, you can be assured that cricket and at&t have been talking. Whether its a complete buy out, or simply selling licenses, you KNOW they have discussed it.
