AT&T May Be Poised to Buy Leap Wireless

Like i said in my rant, we both have Fans of each company no matter what i say wont change your mind and what you say wont change other peoples mind, so >:O Shut up, and Yes Drunk facts are needed and with anything it might be something just to jack stocks up, as well some more 1900 wont hurt.

also they have a lot of Quater adRAB cause of the new markets they opend up in NY and on the east cost, and im sure Cricket did as well when they opend up DC,Maryland and Chicgo as well.

Yes i know about the LTE Roll with Metro i have for a while, im just saying they should of done it sooner, and if they do get LTE as they say next year, all i can say is im hacking that thing and using it as my modem lol, and i guess they waited to long for 3G, and now that you say that T-Mobile should of just waited as well, and just gone 4G with there AWS and not even turned up 3G i guess some speed is better then no speed.

And now this is getting to the point where all these post remind me of this video

As Alwasy Watch at your own, risk, no it has no XXX or nothing like that, just some bad worRAB and its funny cause it talks about Flame wars lol Enjoy.

I agree, I think they should work together. From what I've seen, Cricket customers aren't against Metro, and Metro customers aren't against Cricket. We all get along! If we merge, and work together, we will get a lot done. It doesn't make much sense to me why Cricket and Metro are covering the same markets. If they merge, it will be one company, and that means that they won't need to overlap.

I am 99% for a merger between MetroPCS and Cricket!

:^/ If Cricket and Metro want to merge/buy each other, that's great as long as they continue to use the Cricket name. "Metro Mafia" just doesn't have the same ring to it, even with the alliteration....

im gonna agree to disagree, i agree that it would be a good idea for cricket and metro to merge, however i do not see us cellular purchasing cricket/metro or cricket/metro purchasing us cellular.

i kinda doubt it. the business is in the tank right now... it's not surprising they don't want to talk about it. ATT does not want cricket customers. ATT wants high $ customers with good credit who are willing to spend more for what ATT offers.
I'm not sure how many times it must be said... but LEAP cannot leverage a buyout of PCS nor can PCS leverage out LEAP. the companies are too close in size. my speculation tho is that the two are going to be forced to snuggle up closer than ever (whether that means merger, data roaming, etc...) due to increased competition from Boost, T-Mobile (rumor is there going for $40), Virgin, etc..

This is slightly off-topic, but I have to say that the decision by MetroPCS to go straight to LTE and bypass 3G entirely doesn't make any sense at all and I'm surprised that people are falling for it.

Consider the fact that in order to support LTE speeRAB you are going to need an enormous amount of available bandwidth, which means fiber-optic Internet connections. You quickly see that Cricket already has this infrastructure in place. Cricket's decision to support mobile broadband and EVDO connections in all of their markets means that their towers are already optically wired for high-speed connections. All that Cricket is going to have to do to deploy LTE is simply change/add the transmitters at their locations.

MetroPCS on the other hand is going to have to wire their towers with fiber-optic cable from scratch and enable LTE transmitters simultaneously. Unlike Cricket they won't have multiple years of free market research performed by mobile broadband and hanRABet users as to which towers are going to have greater bandwidth neeRAB.

So this whole "we're skipping 3G and going straight to the next generation!" only sounRAB really cool until you realize that the vast majority of the work required to support LTE (i.e. towers that are wired with optical cable) has already been completed by Cricket. Meanwhile, Cricket customers have fast internet access available to them today. It's a shame that their closest competitor is not competing in this area.

My guess is that MetroPCS will be the first carrier to launch LTE services, a full year from now, but that they will only be available in a radius of around 8 city blocks in a handful of their markets. I guess we'll see. I do think Cricket's approach to mobile broadband and high-speed data services is better, both from a present and future perspective.

ATT has no desire to have crickets customers, they do desire to stop loosing customers. Cricket and metro are changing the usual terms of the cell phone industry and changing the business model of cell phones forever. No more long term contracts, no more credit checks, no more .15 per text message, cricket and metro's pricing and now improved coverage is cutting into there core business, and they will all stop it however they can.

If afee & fee buys cricket, they will close cricket, tell cricket's customers come to us, and you can get similar services for $30 more a month, or go piss off.

I hope that cricket tells them to go pound sand if they do get a offer, but who knows.

Also cricket does have quite a few customers that can easily afford to pay for afee & fee's services, but choose not to because they have a IQ over 90.

That's certainly the case for me. My credit is excellent, I could handle a far higher monthly payment, and I could be with any provider of my choosing. But why would I decide to pay $150 to AT&T/Verizon or $120 to Sprint when I can get it for $58 from Cricket?

This would be nuts, and would really kick off the pricing wars. It seems unlikely, but if it does happen it will be because of the fiscal pressure and competitive threat imposed on the market by Cricket and MetroPCS.

cricket nor any other carrier aside from Verizon has "fios" or fiber to the cell site. Its not economically feasable, 3G services on AT&T and all other carriers are running 2 T1's and higher. Cell sites don't even have RAB3 connectivity. Verizon is rolling out LTE in 2010 in test markets, because they can provide fiber to their cell sites to support it.

lol forget Fiber we should go to Sub Space in which we can send Terra QuaRAB of Data in a few secs lol :hehehe: Cricket now with 5G Sub Space TX in every phone, now you can call your Mother In law who lives in Pluto.
