Are there any cultures that cooks lettuce?

Yes, I know the Asians do, or parts there of, and also Sicilians do, as do a couple of other European countries or provinces.

PS: Mostly boiled for the European sector with you know herbs spices etc: The Asians cook it or as is, with a savory meat filling rolled into a small package.

In the April 2009 edition of Every Day with Rachel Ray she has a recipe for a Caesar Soup (Page 73). It's basically your traditional Caesar Salad but everything is cooked in a broth. It sounds and looks delicious. (To me, anyway.)

As far as a particular culture group, I don't know of any. (Which isn't to say they don't exist.)

my grandma makes dutch lettuce... it's potatoes,hardboiled egg, bacon,onion and then she wilts the lettuce in the hot mixture... theres also some vinegar,water and sugar in it. it is very good

the heartier lettuce like bok choy, cabbages, and kales. Not so much the mild lettuces like romaine and green.

Most western cultures use wilted spinach, spinach is a type of lettuce.

French use witlof (a type of endive) which is grilled or braised, normaly with a little sugar, because it's bitter.

French & Swiss also wilt shard (similar to silverbeet).

Asians use bok choy, choy sum & tat soy which is commonly used in cooking.

I'm sure I could come up with more if I had more time. That's just a couple off the top of my head.
