Are my subs reaching their potential?

I have 1 amp working 2 subs. They sound great, but could they be louder?

Amp- EarthQuake PH2000W/D1

I have them wired so that the 2 positive cables go twisted together into the pos on the amp and the 2 negatives cables the same into neg.

?? Good? Bad? why or why not? Thanks!
 
Those subs are DVC so how are the voice coils on the sub wired? If you are running just one voice coil, meaning you only have one positive terminal and one negative terminal hooked up on the sub, you could possibly damage your subs.

A DVC sub will have two positive terminals and two negative terminals for each sub. If you only hook up one positive and one negative you will only be hooking up a single voice coil. By doing this you will reduce the overall power handling of your sub. You will also change the subs T/S parameters. This means the specs for what enclosure you will need will be different then what the manufacturers specs will say. Either of these two things can result in damage of your subs.

You can run a single voice coil on your sub properly but you need to know what you are doing. It is not usually recommended because of the reasons I said above.

Bottomline, with that amp the proper way to do it would be to wire the subs like in the link below. This would result in a 4 ohm load which would actually lower the amount of power you are giving to your subs. This would result in slightly quieter sound but it would be safer to do. You cannot wire to a 1 ohm load because your amp is not stable at that.

So you can either wire to a 4 ohm load like in the link or keep your current configuration and hope it is done correctly. If it is not damage could be the result.
