Apocalypto

I did not see a trailer for this film so sorry if I am double posting but I saw the trailer for this film the other day and was blown away. Mel does such an amazing job of visually telling a story and that is exactly what the trailer does. I love his movies -- really looking forward to this. What are your thoughts?
 
I agree...........very beautifully shot. Visually stunning. My eyes were riveted to the screen.

Like you, I ran through the gamut of emotions.......laughter, horror, sorrow, etc.

It came in number 1 this weekend.

I saw it and thought it was great. Everything was beautifully shot. Some scenes had me laughing, others cringing, and others getting teary-eyed. :thumbs_up:

I went to a late afternoon showing, and arrived 30 minutes early, and it was already getting packed. Lots of Hispanics watching this one. :)

Whether you love or hate Mel, he is a good director and has an Oscar for it. From what I've seen of this movie, it looks like it's about the Mayan culture of hundreds of years ago. I'm not sure if this movie will bomb or not. Because I remember back when The Passion of the Christ came out, many movie experts were predicting that The Passion would bomb and Mel would be ruined. And I also think a lot of people wanted the film to fail but we all know it didn't. The movie doesn't seem controversial like The Passion so that might hurt Apocalypto because controversy sells movie tickets most of the time. The movie poster looks cool. LOL
