AP Classes and College?

I'm currently in 10th grade and taking an AP European History Course. I got a b the first semester, but have gotten cs the past two, no matter how hard I try. I know I get credits for the course for most colleges, but a lot of colleges don't look at weighted GPA, and with the Cs my unweighted sucks. I want to drop down to the college prep social studies class next year, even though the AP Course supposed to be easier because it's american history. I'm tired of working my butt off and getting mediocre grades, where I could be doing half the work and have an A in another class. I'd rather enjoy my time doing normal things like reading books for fun or watching television. Have you seen Jersey Shore? I haven't. Sometimes I even find myself enjoying the time that I'm forced to do chores because I'm not doing homework. And another summer forced reading a book about some revolutionary movement? I'd rather read stupid beach reads. Then there's the whole deal of this class being college level. Are all of my classes in college going to suck so hard? Am I going to hate college? And then I start thinking, no one looks at your transcripts from college. Once I get into college, does it matter if I just barely pass all of my classes? As long as I graduate, and I don't fail anything, it's all good right?
I'm going to talk to the teacher, but I'm pretty sure I'm just going to drop it. My mom didn't take hard classes in High School, got straight As easily, then went to Villanova. I know it's harder to get in now, but still.
