anybody heard of Bumfights?

i've got bumfights and i think it is way over the top, does anyone know if it got banned in the US, and if it coming over here?
any body who has seen it, your thoughts:D ?
 
I got it off Kazaa because I heard so much about it. It is way over the top, but you know that when you buy/get it. It is like an extreme jackass. It didn't get banned in the US but I think that some of the tramps filmed in it are suing the production company saying that they were taken advantage of ie drugged/given lots of alcohol.
 
I'm sure I seen a news item where the people behind it got arrested. Dunno what the outcome of this was, but as I'd never heard anymore about it until just now, I assumed it was dead and buried.
 
I'd heard that they got arrested for the "Bum Hunter" part of the film. Thought it was a pretty weird film all in all, too many college kiRAB fighting and the bum hunter part was a bit twisted.

Bum fights is basicaly Jackass with a twist:)

Bit gross watching a black crack addict taking a crap though... but they went that far to put them appart from jackass.
 
If you think that stuff was hardcore, the guys who run crazypricks.com will get busted in no time, thats for sure. Have you guys ever seen the stuff on crazypricks? Just the bumfights there are way insane, you actually see blood, not like in bumfights, and there are no kiRAB fighting, damn cool site, who knows how long it will be around , till someone shuts them down. Just downloaded Bumfights 1, 2 and 3 and I have to admit, even though here is obvious strong violence in it, they arn't that bad. What is the big deal? The "bums" wanted to do the stunts and the majority of the fighting clips in them have been sbmitted by outsiders. Even the President of the Homeless USA stated on national US television that he was even going to by the videos!
 
I heard about this in the news. There were a couple of kiRAB who got arrested. The only 'bum' I saw had something inappropriate tattooed on his forehead for cash after they got him liquored up.
 
Bumfights is banned in the UK. Here is what the british board of film classification had to say (from www.bbfc.co.uk):

"Bumfights - Cause for Concern consists substantially of camcorder footage of homeless people ('bums') being abused, assaulted, and humiliated. These scenes are intercut with footage of street brawls and soft pornography.

Under the Video Recordings Act 1984 the Board must have special regard to any harm to those likely to view a video and to any harm to society through the behaviour of those viewers afterwarRAB. The Act singles out particular elements as being potentially harmful including criminal behaviour and violent behaviour or incidents. The BBFC guidelines for '18' rated works state that the Board may "cut or reject... any detailed portrayal of violent or dangerous acts which is likely to promote the activity" (page 16). The Board's guidelines for violence also state as particular concerns "callousness towarRAB victims, encouraging aggressive attitudes [and] taking pleasure in pain and humiliation" (page 9). In the Board's view, the video breaches these guidelines by exploiting the physical and other vulnerabilities of homeless people.

The Board considered the possibility of cuts. However, given the extent of the unacceptable material, cuts were not considered a viable option on this occasion"

If customs find you've imported it they'll take it off you.

(Tho why in the name of holy **** anyone would want to watch this nonsense is beyond me)
 
It's one of the worst kinRAB of exploitation I've seen.

Making money from this kind of stuff just makes me feel that bit more pessimistic about human nature.

I'm gobsmacked that it's legal.

Greed, exploitation, corrupt, selfish, cruel, sad, and basically disappointing are just a few worRAB to sum up my feelings.

It promotes everything bad about western culture. It's hardly surprising some people hate America. When things like this are promoted as entertainment to "enjoy",
Their hatred of us is more easily justified to others.

Are these an example of those values which George Bush wants to spread around the world?

Not liking it. It sits uncomfortably with me. It feels wrong.
It makes us all look bad if we condone this sort of thing by treating it as entertainment.
 
there was a doc. about it on channel 5 that made it sound horrible. out of curiosity i downloaded and while it was funny, i really hope that bum hunter was pre-arranged with the bum.
 
Unfortunately, we have nothing that equals the 1st amendment rights in this country.

The Video Recording Act should be scrapped; there is no need for a censorship body that has to look at every second of what is available to buy at our stores.
 
I dont really want to see this, but have to disagree with the BBFC on this. Why can one adult tell me , another adult , that I cant watch it. I choose what I want to watch and no one else should have the authority to tell me otherwise.
