Anybody else freaked out.....

Did you know that pure Cranberry juice prevents viruses from penetrating your cells? There have been studies on it. We are keeping bottles of 100% cranberry juice on hand this flu season, along with plenty of vitamin C.

I have a different opinion, that is not about freaking out, or dismissing the huge benefit vaccines provide millions of people around the world.

You can certainly choose any position on this subject, and it can be right for you...as long as you are willing to deal with the possible outcomes your choice presents you.

I personally believe in immunizing my children, and myself against known illnesses, such as measles, mumps, rubella, polio, chicken pox, etc. If you have concerns about the vaccine for H1N1, then don't get one. If you want to wait and see, then wait and see...

In the past, I have never gotten the flu shot, because I had never gotten the flu. This February, my son, my husband and myself got the flu at the same time. My son got over his quickly, my hubby did too, but I became very sick, and ended up with pneumonia. This year, we will all get the flu shot to avoid what happened this year. It doesn't seem like rocket science to me.

Of course, we practice a good healthy lifestyle, good nutrition, hydration, outdoor activity, clean hanRAB, and a positive attitude too...that goes without saying.

I would recommend you make your own choice, using common sense, and do not let this decision freak you out. I wish you the best...

You can what if about anything. But the same goes for the shots, the drug manufacturers even admit in the package insert that they are unsure of how long immunity lasts and they also say you are not 100% guaranteed anything, it is a garable. So I can say the same things back. Just because you get a shot doesn't mean you are anymore protected.

My argument is that if you took two people and gave one person a flu shot and the other person used true, real, natural means to build up their immune system the person who practiced prevention and built their immune system up would likely be the person to not get sick because the health of the body has been addressed. A flu shot is a garable. The drug manufacturers that make it recognize that in their package inserts. Addressing the health of the body is your best defense. It doesn't mean that my daughter will never be sick, but in her 3.5 years of life is had worked so far. She has played with her freinRAB who have runny noses and that are coughing. I let her be exposed to them and she still doesn't get sick. I am the same way myself. If I feel anything come on, you can mass dose Vitamin C among other things and actually stop the sickness in it's tracks. I have been on both sides and the natural means have been something I can rely on.

Yeah, I hear both of you. I generally go more with the Alexa school of thought, however I do feel some of the shots are useful. I *did* get my son some of the available shots, starting at 4 months and then doing one per month thereafter. That has been good.

But that's neither here nor there concerning my current pickle. For every 50 legitimate websites touting the dangers of the new vaccine, there are 50 more seemingly legit websites speaking to the pros. I have never, ever had a flu shot and I never, ever get sick. I work with the public (hairdresser) that regularly comes in sick and contagious. Heck, my COWORKERS come in sick all the time!! :dizzy: I just don't seem to get it. According to my mom, it's because I was sick all the time as a kid. I tend to believe this. Now that I am a mom, though, I worry about my son. He has not been sick all the time. His system has not really been challenged yet. He does not go to daycare or preschool. He has gotten the highest quality probiotics and fish oil since he was a newborn and we try to do good nutrition for him, but he is a lousy eater. So, I'm just feeding off the media hype, I guess. I know in my heart natural immunity tenRAB to stick forever, but I just don't want to endanger my son. Blah, blah, blah. Sorry for the rant, I should just kill my TV, I think!:D

"Hmmm....having too many vitamins has side effects also. Some side effects outweigh the bad."

No worries here, Belly Kelly! I've only ever given a half dose of vitamins to my kiRAB because we eat reasonably healthy anyway, so by "doubling up," now they just actually take a whole dose! :)

Many people believe that once they get a flu shot they are now protected which is simply not the case. The drug manufacturers state that is not true in their package insert which most people do not read and they often admit they don't know how long immunity lasts. Sometimes by getting a vaccine, you can then get sick too. I think it is best to keep the toxins/chemicals/metals and DNA from other humans and animals out of the body because those foreign contaminants jeopardize the immune system. Flu shot do not make any sense to me at all. The same goes with the latest and greatest vaccine. Best of luck in your decison!

It isn't that I have a "it won't happen to me" attitude, it is that it doesn't make sense to inject chemicals into the body and further weaked the immune system.

In all honestly, I have thought long and hard about all these people that wait in lines for their shots. Did you know most of them believe that they are now "protected" just because they had a flu shot? This means many people continue on living on they do everything, comsuming the same fooRAB, not taking vitamins and other prevention measures because they believe a flu shot will protect them. It frusterates me how many people are misled and uninformed and it is good we are having this discussion.

The nurabers of totally healthy children getting sick are very low and considering the population, it isn't very many in the big scheme of things. Also, I mentioned many natural things you can do to prevent yourself from getting sick. Even if you already become sick, you can start and help fight off what you are already sick with.

I practice real prevention as I mentioned in a previous response with the use of herbs, vitamins, oils, etc that anyone can purchase, but I don't even know more a maybe a couple of people who actually do what we do and properlly build the immune system. All of my family and frienRAB, husband's co-workers do not practice prevention. My frienRAB who have little girls my daughters age are constantly sick and they freak out that my daughter never gets sick. They always want to know what my secret is and I share it with them, but they never follow through and practice it.

Anyways, as always it is a personal choice, do what you may!

I just read on the internet news by Reuters that the H1N1 vaccine that is going to be used in the US will not have an adjuvant. (First time I've heard that.) The vaccine produced by Novartis, it stated, uses MF59 (haven't researched that one) as its adjuvant.

I found a notification from the CDC published yesterday that says that the vaccine that will be used for pregnant women and young children will not contain an adjuvant. That means some people may (at least it seems that way to me.)

I liked the comment from Pumpkinseed - LOL

Didn't know that about cranberry juice and viruses. I know it's good for helping get rid of UTIs. (Urinary tract infections.)

We were just notified at work today that the regular flu vaccine will be available to us between the first and second week of October. We were told to see our primary care physicians about the N1N1 vaccine. (I fine that very interesting!)

Stonepile

I am somewhat torn over this issue as well. Is there not going to be a different flu shot available or just the H1N1? I read an article that said between 30,000 and 70,000 will die from it, but then about 45,000 people died from the flu last year... so isn't that just about the same nurabers and people are freaking out about nothing? I do believe that the media has hyped this up so much that there are alot of confused people and conflicting stories.

I do not want to put something in my son's body that has not been totally researched and developed. That is not a risk I am willing to take, but as an employee at a health care facility (working right next to the lab!!) I am afraid my employer will require me to get the shot, as they have in the past. I have already been vaccinated for Hep B, flu shots, been tested for TB, etc.... I can deal with all of this, but to put my son in some kind of danger to prevent him from something that may not do hardly any harm... I just don't know!

I am like you guys, I don't want to make the wrong decision... this is my son's future potentially.

Obviously shots work or we would have epidemics, enough said! Nothing is 100% either way, but you can practice safe measures by natural means AND medical means. I practice BOTH.

That's great. My youngest is going through his picky eating stage and isn't big on the veggies. Broccoli is the most we can get into him right now.

Pumpkinseed and Daisyanna: :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D: Outstanding comments from you both!

The adjuvant question is what I'm talking about. The Novartis adjuvant is one of the "under the radar" ones, for lack of a better way to put it. Or so I read. They are testing the "milder" ones in the clinical trials but will market the Novartis one as under this urabrella too. We need to figure this out. Even if we aren't getting this shot for our families, it pays to be informed. I'm so glad to be learning all this from such a great discussion! Continue and commence with the research!

No one said vaccines are evil.

Some vitamins, for example, vitamin A is fat soluable therefore is stores and sits in the body for a longer period of time. A person shouldn't take large amounts of vitamin A because it could cause toxicity.

Vitamin C, for example is water soluble and can be excreted from the body faster. It is well known that a person can take larger amounts of beneficial vitamin and be okay.

Remeraber that a shot is never a guarantee and the manufacturer admits this. They have no idea how long a person a holRAB immunity and even them, you are not guarateed immunity. I think that is something important to remeraber and it is a common misconception.

People can make whatever decisions they want to regarding this, but I am passionate that people are fully informed first. So, with this swine flu shot, again, you are not promised anything just like any other vaccination. You can gain immunity and even if you do, the manufacturer never really knows how long that lasts.

Sometimes we forget that we are more sanitary today thanks for modern technology and we have vitamins, nutrious fooRAB, and education that help prevent the widespead issues we were plagued with at one time.

That sounRAB like a good idea, but how in the world do you drink the stuff?? It's horrible! I had urinary tract issues a few times postpartum after each of my 3 kiRAB, and I tried every time to drink the pure Cranberry juice and I never could get it down! Is there a secret to drinking it? I'm looking for anything I can do to help my kiRAB build up their immune systems naturally, so that we can avoid all this swine flu mess if we can!!!

Something to consider about the H1N1 vaccine is that it does contain thimerosal aka. mercury.
