I think it was in the recent issue of Empire they had their usual best movies of all time feature. Usually Star Wars and Godfather hog the top spots, but this time Lord of the Rings:FOTR was No.1
Anyway, my friend ( who was pissed that Star wars wasn't No1 again) reckons it's just a fluke and that in a few years no one will really remember the LOTR Trilogy. He mentioned both Gladiator and Titanic, both big Oscar winners and at the time, lauded as some of the greatest movies in recent history. Of course most people now scoff at Titanic as being too mushy and is basically only good for the last 45min.
So will LOTR or any other recent movie still be remembered in 25 years?
