Pappcam, keep in mind what forum you are on. Most of us are here because we have an above average interest in TV. If this was a cycling forum there would be threads about gears, spokes, etc.

As for how the US affects us, we are tied to the US in many ways; most notably economically. I know some of my investments are US based.

Whoa, Docrobot... Speaking as one of those to whom you refer, I'd like to set the record staright that I do pay my full subscription fee for BEV as well as pay an annual fee to a Canadian to manage my account and each time I need a change done, I have to pay an additional fee to a Canadian. I bought my equipment at full price from a Canadian dealer. I pay the full price for the BEV service as well as provincial and federal taxes. So, please don't accuse us "grey market" viewers of not paying our way. We more than pay our way!

We just happen to value your country and the quality of your television programming enough to shell out that extra $50 to $100 per month for the priviledge. ;)

Nope it's as basic as it gets. It looks somewhat like the Dish Network 111. It does not have s-video output. The remote is like the IR remote used with the 3200.

I can't believe that Shaw and StarChoice have TCM the Ameican version. Bell continues to dissapoint with their latent additions of new channels.

All your friend had to do was go with the "moving promo" the installer would have come to install the dish at his new place, noted that the sub was in a place where he couldn't receive service now, AND THERE WOULD BE NO PENALTY FOR BREAKING THE CONTRACT. :)

NFL Network HD hopefully will be one!

It is more of a must now that the network is broacasting regular season games this upcoming season.

well i call bev why i did not received it yet it's b'cause i am on the english programming and to received that channel(prise 2) you'll never the french programming for the programming brochure. the guy told me that.

Yep seems Rogers was feeling the hit a couple of years back when BEV gained alot of ground, but now it seems to have tapered off and Rogers has gained thier ground again. If by next summer no Hustler Canada, Redlight District and AOV then I will be trading my IRD's in to Rogers for thier Digital Terminals and go back to them after a 6 year absence.

Well I have to wait til July 2006 when I can drop BEV as I have a bundle contract. If I break it I have to pay $200 for each service i break.
When my computer fried on me back in March i had to still pay for my Sympatico even though I had no computer until late May. So I had to buy a new computer regardless or break the contract bundle and pay $200 for cancelling Sympatico. So i bought a new PC.
Recently my co-worker had to move seen as he got transferred to a farther away location. He moved into an aprtment and was not facing west but north. So he couldn't keep his BEV. Bell said he has 2 choices either break the contract and pay $200 or continue paying for a sub for another 14 months then the contract is over. Bell said it is too bad about where he moved to that he should have stayed where he was and there would not have been any problem. He chose to break the contract and pay the $200. Went to Rogers. Not sure on the deal they gave him there but he said it was a pretty good deal.

Rumors of a new High Speed transciever; that would send and recieve to and from the Satellite...

norman68, While you consider this a disappointment, others like myself are extremely happy about these 2 new channels. It's impossible to please everyone since everyone has different taste in what they watch on TV. At least they are adding channels.

I would love to subscribe to BEV. But i'm a big sports/naked women/news channel fan. Rogers has them beat with the sportspak, Hustler, Red Light AOV Movie Channel and AOV Clips. I think Rogers has more news channels as well. So until BEV gives real competition I stay with Rogers.

I see Fight Network's on the local Shaw as well as Starchoice. Any plans for Expressvu?

No rumors required on high speed sat service , here is a recent press release .

Telesat Ka-Band Internet Service
Making the

at the moment yes.
whether the two channels remain on the second satellite after they're released to the public, remains to be seen

No, nothing yet. I moved to rogers recently and i'm happy with my choice. I got fed up waiting for bell to add the channels i like watching. Rogers also gave me a really good offer.

ExpressingVu's: Obviously they try to be competitive with other service providers. Their main problem is they're limited by technology and they can't really add channels with the same ease as cable companies. You can try writing to them at bell's website asking for a specific channel to be added but they virtually never add channels that way. You'll just have to wait or take your business to a provider who carries the channels you're missing on BEV.
