Since my post has been deleted, I will ask again. When in the hell is BEV gonna get new channels added to their lineup??? You look in the Rogers section withing this forum and all you read about is the rumours or releases of new channels. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

This is probably BEV's attitude concerning American satellite television. I think the issue is more complicated than that.

I believe it is all based on marketting surveys and viewer trends for geographical areas. That is one of the reasons foxnews was added instead of bloomburg.
I could be wrong of course. Some will argue that there are an overwhelming number of people on this board who would purchase bloomburg on bev were it available, but on the flipside one has to keep in mind that a: this is a small minority of bev customer and b: many of the people here are of like mind and interest, so it would not be a fair cross-section of the general populace.

nem, who made a point or something resembling one.

Someone in the marketing department on another forum confirmed that Bell Expressvu will launch Fox News Channel on channel 507 labeled FOXNC on May 1st with a free preview until September 1st.

I emailed Expressvu and got the same response.

GolTV = 404
Description:
News. Enjoy GolTV as a free preview until Jan 31st.

CGTV = 690
Description:
Introduction to Casino and Gaming Television.

Exactly the point: we have a lot more freedom here than our poor cousins south o' the border: the draconian measures the FCC uses to impose restrictions would never be tolerated here... especially in areas of concentration of ownership (Ever tried to find an interesting radio station in the States? It's hard to do, since increasing concentration of ownership means more "corporate radio" without much choice of what you can hear!) and adult stuff (recall the fiasco over the Janet Jackson "wardrobe malfunction"? Anywhere else in the civilized world, it would have been an utter non-issue, but you'd think the world had ended the way the FCC cracked down...)

'Nuff said. :D

That would be great!

I have a feeling some channels would be a lot less - subscribed to. For example, I just added Family 1 to my package, but could care less about all but two channels on it. There may be some channels with little or no viewership.

Mind you... If there were channels no one wanted, BEV would find out really quick whether to replace these channels with something else?

It would certainly give you more freedom to pick. ;)

Bell could only add FuelTV and HD Net if they were approved by the CRTC and the app. for HD Net's been collecting dust for quite some time.

exactly my point...bell wouldn't be wasting money and bandwidth on channels that weren't in "demand"...i guess the only downfall is, what if XYZ channel only has 5,000 people watching it, whereas FoxNews will have 100,000 viewers...do they anger the 5,000 people and remove their channel, simply to appease the 100,000?

i guess its a tough call.

maybe in the next year or so, Bell will put up a 500 transponder monster satellite that has enough capacity for 5000 HD channels. ;)

I live in a condo and I dont believe there is a 2nd satellite on the rooftop. Is this the reason I dont have access to Nimiq82. If so, does this mean I will never be able to access any new channels ? I was hoping to watch GOLtv but channel #404 is nowhere to be found.Thanks

Just received new 'Simplified Channel Guide' from Bell dated Nov. 1, 2005.

They are moving (or moved) a few channels around. Once change I don't understand is HD 829. Currently this channel shows full time HD content in a loop. New paper guide show a new channel called 'Barker Channel' at 829. Does anyone know about this service?

What will happen with the HD loop?

Also missing is the new HD Raptor channel on the guide

any answer given about new channels and expected release dates would be rumour. bev has added foxnews. more channels can be expect in the future, other than that what other answers are you looking for?

nem, who says if you read the thread, i wouldn't have to be typing this

I was under the impression that BEV has a capacity problem due to a lack of available transponder space. This excuse has often been used to explain why some additional channels that are requested cannot presently be carried.

it is currently unknown where will Gol TV Canada end up when it comes out of the hiding. it's currently being tested on Nimiq82, hidden from receivers, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will stay there. (even though the odds are in favour)

do you see channels like EuroNews, Silver Screen Classic, Cool TV or PunchMuch listed in your guide ? (even as unsubscribed) ... if not then you are not receiving signal from Nimiq82

no, that isn't correct...i posted long ago that the reason was a capacity issue...new channels will pop up, as FoxNews is coming in a couple of days, it might take a little longer until they get more capacity, that's all...trust me, there is no conspiracy against american channels...bell wants the added revenue from the new channels as much as the other providers do.

TJ77, thanks for the info. I'll see if I can get more the source to spit out some more substantial details.

And I confirmed with BEV CSR that they no longer have an additional receiver or 6 unit limit.
