Any new recent good horror film

Someone mentioned Splinter? I wouldn't go as far as saying it was one of the best to come out, I found it quite disappointing.

A lot have been mentioned already, new and a bit earlier you might like if you haven't seen the following:

The Mist
[REC]
The Orphanage
Let The Right One In
Inside
Haute Tension/Switchblade Romance
The Hills Have Eyes remake
Eden Lake
Them/Ils
Wolf Creek
Alone(Thailand film)
Shutter(original)
Midnight Meat Train
The Signal
Rogue
My Name Is Bruce(not full on horror lol)

Martyrs - Have not seen this yet but it is suppose to be fantastic and very disturbing.
Also The Broken is suppose to be good.

My daughter was given the film ●REC for Christmas and only got around to watching it at the weekend.
Within minutes I knew it was not for me and moved to the study.
A lot of screaming, a lot of grunting and a lot of horror from what I gathered.

I agree , it is not really a horror film. It is more of a preteen Vampire romance  BUT in a really good way . I thought it was fantastic.

George Romero is filming another "dead" movie right now, for release later this year. No title as yet, but there is a trailer on the fangoria website (I think?)

Seems he's gone back to basics on this one, but with a western slant to it (as in wild west).

Let's hope it's better than Diary was....

Watched My Bloody Valentine last week and although it is not the scariest film you'll ever see, the 3D effects make it a worthwhile film to view.

Other recent horror movies to check out -

The Orphange
The Descent
The Hills Have Eyes
The Grudge (the Japanese version is even scarier)
Wolf Creek
The Mist

Not sure if you felt the same, but I went to see this at the 02 in London on the weekend and people were laughing all the way through it! I don't know if the directors were deliberately mocking or what, because some scenes were just ridiculous and took the horror bit away, kind of like the 'Scary Movie' films

Also, I agree about Strangers - my best film of 2008 by far.
Friday the 13th should be coming out soon :)

Good horrors are so thin on the ground these days.

Personally, I wouldn't class The Orphanage as 'a good horror' by any stretch of the imagination - just my opinion.

I'd certainly recommend REC though and possibly The Descent if you've not seen it already.

I was thinking about buying Eden Lake, has anyone seen it - is it any good?

I agree with Rec, amazing film!

However I don't think The Mist was a really good film. i thought it was alright and the ending was good but it doesn't deserve so much praise.
