Any ideas what's wrong with my 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 500R?

I was riding on the highway and this Harley tore past me, so I pursued and we stayed neck and neck for about 10 miles. I guess a 500cc engine doesn't like going 110mph for that long, because all of a sudden I'm going 100, 90, 80, and then 70, and could barely maintain 70 with the throttle held opened (I was a half mile from my house at this point, or I'd have stopped).

Now, I can't get the bike to rev past about 5-6k. It idles well, but is far harder to get started from a cold start. If it gets above about 2k rpm's, the engine noise is lower than the whine it used to be - accompanied by a ticking noise.

Any ideas?

Go to bikebandit.com and look under oem parts and find your bike.Go to the air filter schematic and look for the Air valve switch-item #16126.Make sure that all the hoses going into and out of the switch are connected. That switch opens up at a certain rpm to allow more air flow which is needed at higher speeds or rpm's.On some bikes they call it a pair valve.
