Not to mention that for every legit hunter 100 are in it strictly for
the thrill of the kill/murder. Every spring after the thaw without
fail I find several mutilated deer stinking in my back field, heads
and forehoofs removed, some with poorly placed arrows proving the poor
creature ran for miles before dying... I have a five gallon
contractors bucket filled with arrows I've plucked from the ground and
from carcasses. And then those same bastards rarely hunt where they
live, most all are from cities, one knows someone who owns some
acreage and gets permission but the owner remains absent... so they
invite a bunch of cronies too. They remain blotto drunk the entire
time, they race around the back roads all night with spot lights
jacking game. They wander far off the lot they have permission to use
and break into summer homes and literally destroy them, many they burn
to the ground by leaving wood fires untended. Several of my neighbors
have bullet holes through the walls of their house. Posted signs mean
nothing to those cowards, every spring I find at least a dozen shot
full of bullet holes... I buy aluminum signs with my name and address
printed on them in packs of a hundred, $90 a pop plus a day lugging a
ladder, the signs, a hammer, and nails to replace them. So far not one
of my neighbors who claims they hunt to save money on meat (BS,
hunting gear is very pricy) has when I've asked couldn't show me so
much as one venison burger in their freezer. My greatest joy is to
hear on the news when hunters shoot/kill each other, every year a few
around here do... I open a bottle of Champagne to celebrate... good
riddance to bad rubbish. No one has to hunt to eat game... there are
plenty of farms that raise game of all sorts, venison farming is
common because it's illegal to put wild venison on a restaurant menu.

AFAIAC I it perfectly acceptable for a charity to ask someone, but they
have to be prepared for rejection. I spend several days last month
soliciting donations for our silent auction. It was disappointing. I
told my fellow board members about the mall I had been to where not one
single store donated. Hell, no donations from that city. It was a waster
of my time. But I didn't mention the places by name.

I can tell you that if I were soliciting and I was unable to give at the
time, and found that they publicized my refusal, they would never get a
penny from me.

I did not say such a cite exists, however I will point out you're
being evasive. The definition of abusing (or "torturing" if you will)
an animal varies with time and place according to public whim.
Most consider whale hunting cruel today, whereas in the past it
was acceptable. Just because hunting (for example) deer is legal
in some places does not mean it is not a possible marker for violence.
To say, "Oh, it's hunting, it must be okay, that's how people get
their food" is totally avoiding the issue.
