Hello friend
You have definitely come a long way since your first post. Wow, have you ever! One day, you're going to have to gather the courage to look at those earlier posts. When you do, just remerabe how far you've come. It's ok to look at your past, in fact, it's a wise thing to do, as it allows us to see who we used to be (and remind us that we can never go back there). Hiding from the past will not make it go away. Grasping it will make you stronger.
Shame vs. guilt - In rehab, I had alot of shame. I couldn't look myself in the mirror, as I was ashamed of the person I had become. My counsellors explained that addiction is a disease, and I should never be ashamed of it. They also told me that it's ok to feel guilt, cause we look into our past and see the things we've done. Once I was able to let go of the shame and accept the guilt, then and only then, was I able to forgive myself.
It is wonderful that you don't have any cravings, even though you know there are pills in the house
I'm proud of you! You have definitely turned a corner. One thing I learned in NA is that you can't be cocky. I was so proud of myself and assumed that because I didn't have any cravings, I'd never ever use again. Well, I learned very quickly that us addicts have to be vigilante ALL the time. It's perfectly ok to be proud, however we still have to protect ourselves and that includes evaluating our lives each and every day. Remeraber what you're thankful for. Make a gratitude list every. You may not be able to overcome your addiction, but you can arrest it one day at a time
I hope you enjoyed your weekend and had some time to rest. I know you've been crazy-busy at work lately. Addicts have to be selfish sometimes and allocate "me time" every now and then
Have a great day,
