[ANN]Sunrise Notes the Possibility of Another Code Geass

I'd really rather they DIDN'T do what they did with Gundam. There are so many times they've twisted Gundam just to keep a brand name there that any real connection has been lost. Do we really want that for Geass, a story which you can tell was meant to be a stand alone morality tale? I mean, we've already just had Gainax go 'LOL we're going to milk Gurren Lagann till everybody who loves it instead loathes it!"
 
Yeah, that's why I said they should have a chick as the main character this time, and not a sissy chick either

Either that or an R2 remake (man was R2 a trainwreck)
 
Speaking of Godannar, that series is shamelessly exploiting every single female every single scene but still manages to be a good take on the Super Robot formula. I didn't think you could have so much fanservice and still make that work but it definitely does.

But as long as we're going to throw out random ideas just because there's nothing else to talk about yet...I think there are plenty of directors and writers who could take the Geass concept and do something interesting with it, inside or outside the limits of the original story. For all we know Sunrise may just want to make a movie adaptation or something of the sort, if they want to play it safe.
 
I agree, that why I suggested they have a girl as the lead (but of the boyish kind, damn me and my thing for toraboys!!), also I wonder what it would be like if it were directed by Akiyuki Shinbo (he is a freelance director), that would be funny and epic at the same time!!

And I would like to see a Code Geass movie, hell, I'd travel all the way to Japan just to see it!!
 
Left to their own devices, Sunrise OKd a manga set in the feudal Japanese era which basically cast the Japanese as oh so innocent and Brits as heartless conquering bastarRAB.

Now, not to completely rule out that last point but see why letting them dictate some kind of Geass spin off would probably be a bad, bad idea? The continuous habit of Geass making out Japan to be the world's innocent victim isn't really something we need more of.
 
Maybe they'll try using the Geass for something else other than invasion, like maybe in a TRIGUN-like setting, or maybe ....... I'm just throwing this out there, but a Megas XLR (I know it's not anime) type setting would be good too!!
 
I know, really I have a wild imagination, and by wild imagination, I mean WILD and CRAZY, I think I should be an anime director, along with my long desired dream to become a manga artist!!

But honestly I think Sunrise would do more than just give Kallen giant knockers
 
Geass was an open and closed storyline, a morality tale about an exiled prince and what he'll do to get his revenge on the monarchy that thrust him out. What is their left to tell? It's not like any of the surviving characters are interesting and what is there for an AU to explore?
 
Well, to be fair, all they're doing with Gurren Lagann is compiling the plot into the space of two films. Sure, it's milking, but that much isn't new, and I'll take it over "yeah, we're making more even though we ended it as well as we could." You're right, they can't make a long franchise out of this. The best that they can do with it is write a good epilogue and be done with it. The heart of the story has been told. Well, they could also do a prequel I suppose, but they never seem to make those.
 
Answering Hellcat's rhetorical questions isn't going to get us anywhere anytime soon until Sunrise says what their real plans are.

For the record, I don't want any kind of direct sequel, but there's little reason to be so close-minded about any other possibility, from a prequel to an AU to just milking the exact same morality tale through a movie or something of that nature.

Even that is not out of question unless one of us owns a crystal ball.
 
I'm referring to the fact Gainax said they planned to basically milk GL for at least the next decade or so and that they basically intended to do with it what they do with Eva.
 
It still baffles me that people don't notice that in Geass, Britannia acts EXACTLY like the way Japan did back in WW2 when it was being the evil conquering "Great Empire of Japan."
