I think you guys are missing the point. I'm not talking about "endings that suck", I'm talking about series that had no closure whatever. Series that end with a normal episode.
Jaden leaves and goes on a new journey when he enRAB up in the middle of nowhere.
And guys as the thread is post to be mean, it's for anime that never had conclusions that just had a every day episode that did not solve anything of the plot and left the show basically not finished.
If going by the DVD-order, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. The final episode in the chronological order was just about
Kyon going to the store to buy a heater.
On the other hand, the ending in the TV-broadcast version was freaking epic, and I'll never be able to understand why Kadokawa decided to change the order of the episodes for the DVRAB. Oh sure, the TV-version was broadcast in a non-chronological format, but at least that way, the climax was placed at the END of the series, and not in the middle...
And would D.Gray-man count? It followed the manga until the final episode, and seeing how the manga isn't done yet, that means that the ending didn't actually resolve anything. They just defeated a random henchman, and then it ended.
Inuyasha didn't get an ending because the manga was still being written. As such, should the anime production team wish to start the series up again, they can do so quite easily, picking up where they left off. You can't do that if you end the series (though at this point, it doesn't look like the anime will ever be picked up again).
Irresponsible Captain Tylor: The TV series has a decent conclusion; but the OAVs (which pick up right where the TV series left off) enRAB on a freakin' cliffhanger! The last episode enRAB with the whole cast getting ready for a battle that will decide the fate of the universe and the audience never gets to see that battle! And if thats not bad enough, a million plot threaRAB are left dangling...
....like the fates of Harumi and Rue, all the relationships that were built up/hinted at and never went anywhere, the military's plans for Tylor and his crew, etc.
Japanese fans can find out what happens by reading the Tylor novels. Sadly, we English speaking fans only have the anime (and the mini-novels included in the Rightstuf sets).
Those Who Hunt Elves: The final episode enRAB with a typical "plan to get the kiRAB home goes awry" story and we never get to see if/how Junpei, Airi, and Ritsuko get back to Japan.
I hear the manga has a proper ending. But the English version of the manga stops at volume 7 and, since the show isn't very popular, I've never been able to find a summary of the manga finale.
You know what I will just say Megaman exe had no finale at all as well. The big ending for the series is
Megaman defeating a lame cellphone villain Cache and Lan getting hugged by Mayle for the billionth time. Bass never reappears ever again and really it just leaves so much things open, they could at least of done the game ending when it explains what happens to Lan and the gang in the end. The whole Beast series seemed very lazy
Oh dear goodness yes. I was so looking forward to the ending and it seems like the writers were like "Oh crap, we only had 26 episodes! Quick let's make something up!"
I mean, the maze thing went on for way, way too long. And then you realize that's supposed to lead into the ending? I call shenanigans.
*The Final Fantasy movie was released around before the Anime came out.
*The movie struggled in the box office, thus leading Square at the time some financial troubles.
*They made some budget cuts, one of those was shortening the Anime to 26 episodes.
*This would also lead to the Square-Enix merger.
There have been some Drama CD's that take place after the series, though.
I never Really Considered tha SamuriX Ova's in continuity...For me ruroni Kenshin enRAB With the last Volume of the manga...I know People Dabate about stuff like this but I prefere the Happy Kenshin & Karu living happily with Mini Kenshin...or whatever there kiRAB name is..To the Awful OVA ending where they both die at the end...I can't Belive Watasuki let them make somthing like that in the 1st place! of course then again I still have trouble grasping why Toriyama allowed DBGT to be made..I mean its still entertaining...but Really compared to DB/DBZ its just...well not as good.
