Animated box-office bombs you actually saw in theaters

The Powerpuff Girls Movie.
Hey Arnold! The Movie
Rugrats Go Wild
Atlantis
Treasure Planet
Ponyo
Osmosis Jones (though the theater was packed. I was surprised when I found out it made very little money.)
Was The Road to El Dorado really a flop? I thought I remembered it doing pretty well... oh well, I saw it in theaters, anyhow.

Let's see...

9- pretty good only like 6 people in there including me...
The Powerpuff Girls Movie- loved it and still do
Atlantis- haven't seen it in forever, got to see that again...
Hey Arnold Movie- pretty cool
Ponyo- awesome
Brother Bear- great movie
Sinbad- I remember liking that

Probably more...Wow, that's a lot...

Here are a few failed movies I went to see that only had a few people in the theater besides me:

The King & I (1999)--regardless of the choppy animation, I kinda liked it because the songs were pretty good.:)

Quest for Camelot--I thought this was a very enjoyable movie. Don Rickles was pretty funny in the musical number.:)

Atlantis: The Lost Empire--one of my favorite Disney 2D movies!:D I'll always love Kida!:anime:

Eh, I'd still watch it today.

I've seen Swan Princess.
Quest for Camelot.
Titans A.E.
Treasure Planet.
The Iron Giant- classic!
And others, of course. ;)

For anyone interested, I browsed boxofficemojo for my list.

My favorite animated film is also Warner Bros Animation's greatest marketing screw-up: The Iron Giant. I loved it so much, I saw it 7 times at the theater. Three times, I was the only one in the theater.

Titan A.E.

Disappointing because I had higher expectations. The flat celebrity performances killed the entertainment value for me over the film's other flaws.

Treasure Planet
Disney got so enamored with having the first "hybrid" 2D/3D character that they neglected to fix other problems with the film. But I actually enjoyed this one though I think it fails to capture the heart of the original story.

Millennium Actress

Limited US run, but I think this one did very well in Japan. Great film.

Perfect Blue
Another limited US run that probably did well in Japan. I think this one might have worked better as a live-action film, but I actually don't mean that as a critical opinion of the film. It's one of the best animated dramas I've ever seen.

I Married A Strange Person
Low-budget limited US theatrical release, but the film's lack of financial success takes nothing away from Bill Plympton' genius. It's a surreal animated dark comedy with moments of hysterical insanity.

Quest for Camelot
Copy/paste from another thread:

Osmosis Jones
Didn't like it at all the first time I saw it because I had higher expectations and I despised Chris Rock's attempts at acting at the time. Later, it grew on me but I still don't like the live-action scenes or Bill Murray's unmotivated performance. Also don't care for a few of the weak celebrity performances. But I enjoy the gags, visuals, design and animation enough that I've watched it a few times since.

Duck Tales: The Movie
Really liked it. Best animation for any of The Disney Afternoon shows.

The Powerpuff Girls Movie
I actually liked it, but agree with general criticisms that it failed to capture what made the series fun to watch. It's also way too short. Love the animation though.

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm

I remembered being surprised that it was in theaters because I was touring then and didn't keep up with animated news. I went to see it out of curiosity and loved it.

The Road to El Dorado
Ugh. I remember feeling like I totally wasted my money.
@weirdojace: Yes, it was a bomb. Had an estimated budget of $95 mil and barely made back half that.

Atlantis
Flawed, but I liked it, especially for Mike Mignola's design work.

I never got to see it in the theater, but it was one of the first movies I rented from Netflix when I joined in early-2005, and I thought it was great. I immediately bought my own copy. I thought it was a really good animated action movie, and I wish there were more like it.

Sure it bombed. financially...So???
.One of the greatest animated films of all time.
Great story, characters, direction. Wonderful ending. Didn't really get it till the 4th time.....You Stay...I Go......

I saw Teahcer's Pet twice (thought it was a great movie), and both times the theater was packed. And every one was laughing the whole time, too. Seems to be an anomaly.

I also saw Atlantis and Princess Mononoke, which was shown at a local "arty" theater.

I wanted to see Fantastic Mr. Fox, but literally no one else I knew wanted to, so . . .

Yeah. I remember seeing the ending and my Dad telling me there was sure to be another one, so I was amazingly excited. It wasn't until recently I saw this was not going to happen. One of the most underrated movies ever.

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within: I honestly thought it was a good movie (sci-fi fan). I didn't know it was a series of games until later that year.

The Powerpuff Girls Movie: I liked this movie, but yeah, its plot could've been a bit stronger. I think WB releasing this movie the same day as MIB II also killed it.

Osmosis Jones: It was all right (love Chris Rock), but now, I don't laugh at it as much

Yeah, Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Movie didn't do very well and it was definitely a bomb. I forgot that I saw that in theaters too. I thought that it was a fun movie, but the popularity for the anime series was dying down by the time they released the movie. That was probably a key reason as to why it didn't do so well.
