jks: i called bell 3 times. each time they said it's an error on the website. maybe it's an error, maybe it is not. in both case, they are not very professionnal.

now that animal planet is on news and learning 1, what new channel they will put on family 2? or will they combine family1 and family 2 together???

so they moved the sportsnets out of sports 1 and into sports 2 package now to make room for RDS are you kidding me???

Called a CSR to have Animal Planet removed from Pick-n-Pay, as I subscribe to News & Learning 1. He seemed to know about the change to the theme packs and removed the Pick-and-Pay. Animal Planet disappeared, and did not reappear when I reset my receiver. I called back. The second CSR informed me that the change is not happening until May 1, the same date RDS moves. She reinstated Animal Planet and assured me that I would not be double-billed for it after May 1 (ie those who subscribe to N&L1 and have AP as Pick-n-Pay will not be charged the $2.50/month after this point because of the new theme packaging).

Hey Roman- ROFLMAO! I singing telegram would have been nice for sure!

I have a PVR which is nice, with the technology that Bell has with the receivers, a message could pop up in my messages section on my receiver. ITS THAT SIMPLE. I don't need special treatment at all but with todays technology, when a channel gets added to a package that we already have, once you turn off and then back on your PVR, it should show up. Hey I still receive a paper bill also, why not add the odd flyer for upcoming changes, or programming additions etc. We receive the weekly flyers for local stores etc, why not for Bell? I think Bell is too consumed by trying to gain new business rather than to keep the business they have.

My only reason for posting in this forum was to let people know that I did call Bell after reading this forum and talk to Bell and received a CREDIT. I firmly believe that I was properly compensated by this malfunction.

I agree with you soulmate, pretty sure that when I had Star Choice many years ago, there was some kind of an E-Mail type system so they could leave a message for me.

On my PVR, there is definitely a "Private Messages" section. How hard would it be to say "Hey Soulmate, you got a new channel!!"

hehehehehe

Well I guess it's too much to expect Bell to add on Animal Planet to those who already have News and Learning 1 and just leave those who have it on it's own, as they are. I guess it's too much to ask a company to be able to chew gum and walk at the same time in this day of a couple of computer strokes. For a high tech satellite communications company, their expertise in some areas, seems to be back in the 1800s.

called btv again. another csr confirmed it's an error on the website. according to him, animal planet is still part of family 2 only.

either way, btv is unable to communicate effectively with its customers.:(

Its a pretty easy phone call to make to get the update date to the new news & learning. I did it, it was quick and easy. (I also had some other changes I wanted to make .. and that was quick too)

Just tried to get an answer using Chat. No luck:
Sharon: Hello, thank you for visiting bell.ca. How may I help you today?

You: I see that Animal Planet has been added to News and Learning 1 theme pack. When will that be added to my programming?

Sharon: I guess, you are an existing BellTv customer, right?

You: Yes. I have had News and Learning 1 theme pack since I began as a customer.

Sharon: Thank you for being with Bell and I appreciate your loyalty.

Sharon: I would like to ensure that you get the appropriate attention you deserve. Given that I do not have access to your profile, since this is the frontline sales support queue. So, I would like to provide you with the right contact information of the department that will be in a better position to assist you.

Sharon: Please contact Bell TV customer service at 1-877-682-6873 for the better assistance.

I did this yesterday with Sports 1 and 2. I asked to swap the old ones for the new in order to now get RDS and RDSHD. Word of caution...If you only have Sports 1, you lose Rogers Sportsnet and OLN to the new Sports 2.

I cannot see Animal Planet or RDS even when looking in 'All Channels' in the Guide.

RDS shows up in Red on 'All Channels' in HD on Channel 863.

I subscribe to News and Learning 1 and Sports 1. I am on the 10$ legacy HD package and do now get the Golf Channel in HD.

I don't know why I cannot see all of the Channels in 'All Channels'.

It might be easy but when nothing is being taken away from anyone by the change why not just program an automatic update? One of the frequent complaints here is about the slowness of Bell TV's customer service. This change only adds to extra unnecessary work for the CSRs slowing them down even further.

By the way the majority of Bell's clients never come near Digital Home Canada. How would they ever find out about this change that they are entitled to if they are already taking the old News and Learning 1 SD theme pack?

Never mind I just checked my programming online and noticed that it changed. Grrrr damn Bell

Bell's channels page

Animal Planet returned back to Family2 on the website. Also, RDS disappeared from Sports1.

They do have the e-mail function on Star Choice, but I've never actually seen any e-mails go through it except for the welcome message.

I'm not defending their decision to make the change or their decision not to change everybody over. I don't know why they wouldn't. Animal Planet was on a free preview for about a month, if I recall correctly, and they would have had it listed on channel 199 about the change. So, I guess Bell just expects you to keep yourself up-to-date.

They definitely put information on people's bills, but that's mostly notices about price changes, etc...

Glad I could brighten your day, Soulmate. :D

The only reason I could see for crediting you was if you were paying for Animal Planet on its own and they didn't automatically move you over. But for $7.50, I doubt you would have had to even threaten cancellation. They'd give you that no problem.

I went to Bell's channel site, and under "themes" I don't see New News & Learning 1.
It only refers to News & Learning 1.
Geez..........I'm "LEARNING" that Bell is trying to make a few bucks off of confusing the customer again......but that's not "NEWS" to me!!!!!!!!!

thanks tatatatoto. i guess they decided to adjust their webpage after received lots of phone call...
