Exactly! It appears the less interaction with Bell TV, when everything else is OK, the better.

So If I understand correctly, I have subscribed to News and Learning 1 (theme pack) AND Animal Planet (seperate cost of $2.50) for the past 4 years. Now that Animal Planet has been included in News and Learning 1 (theme pack), my bill should be $2.50 less?

That make sense in some way only because you can drop news 1 with HD themes as news 1 is now pretty bare. This might help shore it up.

Habit.

I ordered Sports 1 this morning but I don't have RDS or RDS HD. One hour on the phone and still no RDS... Are you sure they added this to Sports 1?

Update: 3 calls later, they say I should get RDS SD & HD with Sports 1. Long story short...they are sending me a new card. I somehow doubt that it is the cause of the problem...

I gave up waiting for them to make the change. Called 310 Bell, chose "Cancel", and talked to rententions. They said "no problem, we'll replace your old News and Learning 1 with the new one. No change to your billing, no change to your retentions discount." I was on the phone for less than a minute, and Animal Planet appeared in my guide a couple of minutes later.

Don't ever talk to customer service. Just call the retentions department for the "real" customer service...

It is my understanding that if you are a current subscriber to the News and Learning 1 Package, that you are entitled to get Animal Planet as part of the package.

However, it does not automatically download to your PVR.

You have to call Bell and ask them to give you Animal Planet.

I understand that they will take you off your current package and put you into the same package but with Animal Planet included.

Seems nuts to me. Why not just download Animal Planet automatically (like they do firmware) to the PVRs of those who have the News and Learning 1 package already.

At least, in my opinion, subscribers should have received written notice of the new inclusion along with instructions as to how to obtain Animal Planet.

RDS will be added to sports 1 on May 1(French remains). Animal Planet should have started April 17 on News & Learning 1 Grandfathered to Family 2.
From Bell Chat CSR.

Yes you should be able to cancel your pick and pay, they won't do it for you. They might not give you the upgraded theme if you have a price protected package.
RDS/RDSHD is different in that it will remain in Le monde en fran

If you have news and learning 1 why don't they just give you animal planet. That would just make everything a lot simplier.

Does anyone know if Animal Planet did in fact be moved to News and Learning 1 and RDS moved to Sports 1? I am looking at subscribing to Bell TV and would LOVE both of those channels in those two theme packs!

Perhaps someone here can give me some ideals as how to go about getting animal planet.

I already have N&L1 in my package but do not have animal planet. Animal planet is not even showing up in my guide(525 is just not there) I have made three seperate calls to bell with the first two doing what i would call a hit which i already tried myself via bell's website. Now the third csr seemed to try and help out a bit more by actually removing N&L1 from my package and adding it again but once again it's not even showing up in my guide.

I am completely baffled as to why this has to be so difficult, bell really needs to get their act together as they can't seem to accomplish a simple little task as adding a channel to my guide.

Well now that i got that off my chest i was hoping maybe someone here had the same problem and was able to rectify the situation.

RDSHD & RDS are good now if you have sports 1 sd and sports hd You might have to call for a hit.
Warning! If you change you lose sportsnet and OLN as they go to sports 2
bell sure don't make it easy

If this is true that is fricking awesome!!! I so wanted RDS during the hockey season for the Canadiens games and now I do not have to worry about next season.

JohnAllen, the thing with Animial Planet, is that if you added New News and Learning 1 (the digital theme pack) on or after May 1st, 2009 you automatically receive Animal Planet at no extra cost. If you have the grandfathered News and Learning 1 digital theme pack you do not receive Animal Planet, but you can do a theme swap to New News and Learning 1 without penalty (agent assistance required).

i wonder why they change some channels to different theme pack. i only get confuse sometimes, i subscribe to one pack than you realized that you don't need it to get the channel.

That's what they do for new customers.
You can no longer get Animal Planet on its own if you don't already have it. Not everybody who has Animal Planet may want News & Learning 1, so they're not forcing people who already have it to switch.

That's why you need to look over your programming from time to time, and see what's new. If you want to have both, you can update and save $2.50. But they're not going to do it automatically, or you'll have complaints from people who are happy with just Animal Planet on its own.

"Why are you forcing me to take a whole theme pack?"
