An Infinite Number Of Things That Pisses Me Off About Music

fair. i'm just trying to show why there will always be people who roll their eyes at the 80s. yeah there was LOTS of good music out there, but most people didn't really get a chance to enjoy it until the late 90s. i guess it's the difference of remerabering the 80s for what they were at the time vs. looking back at the 80s through what has become available.

i think the amount of contribution has a lot to do with the cyclical nature of pop culture though. people used to complain about how the 90s were bringing back the 70s, does it really seem odd that the next generation would bring back the 80s? the only reason i still have all my grunge discs is to pass them off to my niece when her generation inevitably brings back the 90s.

Sigh, after going through this entire thread, I feel like Texas is a ****in' stagnant environment. Then again, I'm definitely not the only one who feels like that right? Lmfao...

Two (actually four) things I'm reminded of from all this-

1. My psychology teacher from my senior year at Keller High School is ****ing married to Dave Abbruzzese for God's sakes, and once spent an entire period showing us YouTube clips of his live shows. Quite annoying, as some of you can probably imagine...

2. I'm currently studying at MSU in Wichita Falls, TX. Guess what band is this city's pride n' freakin joy? BOWLING FOR SOUPPPP!!!! HOORAYY FOR SHIITTTT!!!!

3. John Cage kicks everybody's ass due to the fact that he even existed in the first place. Followed closely by Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. SLDJFSDJFSLD.

4. I am an Anteater.

In any case, this is a fantastic thread Urban. Or pointless. Or rediculously quarrelsome. Or none of the previously mentioned.

GOOD JOB!!!!! :yikes:

this actually is the most entertaining thing going these days. I don't agree with everything but you can't argue what does or does not piss someone off.

And thanks to Adidasss for pointing out that Urban said make your own thread if you want to write about what pisses you off.

Some people missed the memo.

91 : GRUNGE / ALTERNATIVE

I already posted this before but I'll re-use it here because i'm lazy.

My personal opinion is that grunge is one of the biggest fallacies in music history.

I don't have a problem with the ideal of grunge, The thought of someone putting Black Sabbath style riRAB with punk/indie ideals & attitudes appeals to me.

Grunge was supposed to be the great break out of the American Underground , but that wasn't what happened. All that happened was record labels signed up any scruffy band that looked and sounded miserable , in a lot of cases ex hair metal banRAB (EG Alice In Chains & Pearl Jam) There were a few exceptions like Mudhoney who run out of ideas shortly after their first album came out , and Soundgarden who despite showing some signs of promise on Ultramega OK decided to be some crappy Sabbath tribute band instead.

But other than that the whole grunge thing led to the whole 'alternative' thing where people actually believed that by listening to major label stadium rock shit like the Smashing Pumpkins & Bush that they were under the deluded impression that they were listening to the alternative to the mainstream when in reality real independent labels and banRAB struggled to compete against the growing monopoly of the big 4 labels.
The whole thing was a lie , and the music was mostly rubbish and thats why I hate it.

This describes just about EVERY SINGLE ****TY band today. Most of it is ****, and there are a plethora of reasons why, this is one of the main reasons, nice to see someone else feels the way I do.

Some extremely ****ty banRAB Im talking about:

Fall Out Boy
My Chemical Romance
Good Charlotte
Paramore
Coldplay
Jack Johnson
Gnarles Barkley
The Jonas Brothers
Avril Levigne
Katy Perry
Leona Lewis

"fill in the blank".

Just to name a few........I'm so glad i don't listen to current/modern radio.

90 : SHARON OSBOURNE

It just seems like this woman was put on this planet to annoy me. Whether it's pissing over her husbanRAB legacy of recording some of the finest heaviest music to basically turn him into a doddering slurring irabecile for the cameras for another few million quid in their horrible obviously scripted 'reality' show.

Or maybe it's getting herself or her pug ugly talentless kiRAB on TV doing all the things that spoilt rich celebrity brats do , music & TV presenting or whatever they feel like being that week.

Her position as a talent show judge is hilarious as it's quite clear that this woman couldn't recognise talent if it jumped up & bit her on the arse. Let's look at her management record before she started doing these talent shows. There was Ozzy , who she only managed because she wanted to take Sabbath off her father to piss him off until Tony Iommi told her to take a running jump.
The Smashing Pumpkins , a band who had been around approx a decade already , and they only stuck around for a year or so. The rest were a few here today gone tomorrow unimportant metal banRAB. Hardly a track record for discovering new talent.

And then there's her treatment of other banRAB when they dare criticise her. When Josh Homme complained about his treatment on the Ozzfest Sharon said she hoped his dick would fall off so him mother could eat it. When Bruce Dickinson did the same thing they sabotaged Iron Maidens set. When Lee Kerslake & Bob Daisley asked where their royalties for the first 2 Ozzy albums were she got the albums re-recorded so she didn't have to pay them anything. There's also a story going around that when Randy Rhodes handed in his notice she told him that 'She'd make sure he'd never work in the music industry again'.

Basically I fucking hate this woman and her fucking awful 'i'm just a regular mum' type Asda adverts were the last straw.
Sharon Osbourne , Rot in hell.

No, I haven't seen it. It might be closed minded to say so, but I can't imagine any other band/ensarable even coming close to the album (and it's cliched to say so, but Moon & Entwistle really were the greatest rhythm section in rock history).

I've been feeling the same way as of late. I used to love Rage, but I think de la Rocha has lost it. Whatever it may have been.

The Nightwatchman is good, though. Very good.

It did annoy me when Katy Perry released that 'extended prog wankery mix' of her single.
I think my problem with the idea of loving a band for being technically good is the fact that it turns music into a sport. The faster, the more accurate or skillful the better. This really isn't what music is about.

81 : PEOPLE WHO SPEND ENTIRE GIGS EITHER HOLDING A MOBILE PHONE UP IN THE AIR OR FIDDLING AROUND WITH IT

Your shitty quality Youtube video of your favourite band playing your favourite song impresses nobody. Please stop uploading this shit so I don't have to skim through hundreRAB of shitty quality videos to find a good one.
And people who spend the entire gig chatting on one also look like cunts too.
