An Infinite Number Of Things That Pisses Me Off About Music

I tend to agree, but for a different reason. It's somewhat annoying when someone who listens to Duran Duran and the Spice Girls suddenly starts "liking" Echo & The Bunnymen. It just cheapens the whole thing.

Yep, that's a good one. Even worse, though; people who hate a band based on one song. "I hate the Kinks." "Which songs have you heard?" "Just that one about the transvestite...but that song sucks, man! I hate the Kinks."

The difference is that Unicorns album cover looks like something that was scribbled on a napkin, and that's exactly what a lot of Indie covers look like.

I wasn't suggesting some strict rules or anything, and I think you're right. But I don't think someone like Asia actually felt Roger Dean art suited their music, and it dosen't, Steve Howe just picked him because already he did a lot of the Yes stuff and so he wanted to piss his fans off by suggesting something keen to Yes even though it was far from it.

i can see what you mean, it's hard tell what the truth really is though. At the same time though, if i was in a position of fame, i'd probably be yelling out "Don't Vote For Obama!" or something along those lines haha

Ugh, when I am 26 I will probably be done of college with a crappy job and be bored of everything.

Plus, it's like the ****ty syrabol of feminism. Not saying that's a bad thing but it is annoying to hear this song because I can imagine a girl from a break-up singing it and feeling all strong and dancing and stuff.

I didn't dismiss the entire decade. I said there were a few highlights.

I like the Cars but prefer their 70's work. I like the Violent Femmes, Gary Numan and Echo and that is about it from that list.

I obviously like other banRAB that didn't make the list but as a whole I find the 80's to be dreadful.

The only song by Barenaked Ladies I really like is "Buy, Buy, Buy". It sounRAB like something from some 1950s Hollywood musical about salesmen or something. It's simultaneously so goofy and so square that it kind of works for me.

I have verizon fios, so I search the dvr for a band I want to see a documentary on and see if it is on a schedule...if it is then I record it. All the music stations are FAR too boring me, even the ones that claim to play 'Alternative' and it is really just crap.

18 : Soft Rock / AOR

I can quite honestly say I have never owned a single album of this stuff.
I loathe this stuff more than anything on earth. Rock is supposed to be hard , that's why it's called ROCK. I can appreciate soft music , I just hate this cheesy shit.
You can always tell a soft rock band a mile away. Big perms , bushy bearRAB , white suits all smiling at each other on stage , maybe if your lucky there will be a woman on keyboarRAB dressed as fucking Tinkerbell in all her airy fairy glory.

I fucking hate all of them. fuck Fleetwood Mac ,fuck ELO , fuck Boston , fuck Journey , fuck Foreigner ,fuck Styx.

Anyone mind if I include Wings in this too?
Good
fuck Wings too

In fact I guess I should be grateful that I live in the UK where apart from a couple of exceptions most of this shit didn't sell and not the US so I don't have this shit rammed down my throat whenever my Ipod neeRAB charging and i'm forced to listen to the radio at work. Although not even in the UK can you escape Mr fucking Blueskies or Big Love.

Oh and if your wondering why I didn't specify the 1970s in the title. I only did it so that I could call out the Lighthouse fucking Family for the bunch of cunts they are.

If you insist on posting in this thread

STOP CHOOSING SUCH EASY TARGETS

People don't give a shit if you hate the top 40 or soulja boy, most people here do.At least be original. People come in this thread to be entertained. Stop dragging the tone down.

You know, if I can imagine anyone who REALLY hates Phil Collins, it would be Peter Gabriel.

Well, King Crimson, Camel and Rush are some of the exceptions, they had some excellent 80s stuff, I wont deny that Yes pretty much sold out in the 80s, but at least their first two albums of that decade were decent, then they made one of the stupidest pop songs of all time with Big Generator.

Jethro Tull and Moody Blues in the 80s however, well I'm not even f*cking gonna talk about that.

I never said it was. In fact half the banRAB I listed are British.

All I was saying is that you have dedicated radio stations for playing this crap. In the UK we don't.

OK then just answer this question

How can a band that have sold 26 million albums be considered 'not mainstream'?
