An Infinite Number Of Things That Pisses Me Off About Music

Yeah, I really dont get the hype either...Theres two or three bores on there that I think people only put up with because they either REALLY like the rest of it, or want to agree with every record review website/magazine in existence.

CCR was great. They're not Southern rock, either, though. They're from Oakland, California! Okay, so maybe style is what counts, but I think of them more as Americana...like Violent Femmes or the Doobie Brothers, it was really a corabination of American folk, country and rock.

They do have some pretty good songs. Take the 9 minute City Hall from the self titled, or Beezleboss (The Final Showdown) from The Pick of Destiny. You cant some theres no laughter or talent put into that.

I hate Tommy. This is the album:

01. Boring pretentious instrumental
02. Wicked stupid lyrics that distract from music
03. Boring
04. Nope
05. The first good song on the album
06. This song is awful, the worRAB are really stupid
07. As if "Overture" wasnt boring/long enough
08. Another one of those stupid tracks that just repeats one or two lines that has no musical merit but was included to solidify the 'concept' rather than contribute to the record in a musically appealing way.
09. Do we really need to hear "Fiddle About" repeated 30 times in one song? You're ****ing creepy Pete Townsend.
10. Hmmm, the guy who is funding (I think, he had something huge to do with the album being released, I know that) likes pinball, so Townsend does one of the most disgusting acts in rock n roll history and basically writes a sort of 'product placement' song. TownsenRAB nose has been chocolate brown ever since, and 40 years later I still have to hear "pinball wizard" on classic rock radio repeated 50 times in one day, followed by some 20 something college stoner who listened to eminem in 10th grade asking me, "How can you not like this song?!?!" Kill me.
11. See #8
12. As if the concept wasnt getting ridiculous enough
13. No, Tommy cant ****ing hear you, hes deaf.
14. Im so sick of this record.
15. Boooorriiiinnggg
16. See #15 -
17. Nope. Sucks.
18. I'm Free is the second good song on this record.
19. I dont even remeraber this one, which says alot, Ive owned this album since I was 16.
20. Ooohhh a holiday camp for children! Townsend must be creaming his shorts!
21. We're not gonna take it is the 3rd good song on this album.

I agree wholeheartedly about "The Who Sell Out" being better. Its the fact that, not only are the songs not-boring, but the concept doesnt interfere with the music. The commercials are short enough that I dont have to skip them, and theyre supposed to be funny commercials anyway, which is ENTERTAINING unlike Tommy. 3 good songs, thats the only reason I keep it around, but they do not make up for that atrocious record. I hate Quadrophenia too. Thank God 'Who's next' came out instead of 'Lifehouse', thats all I have to say.

Well, it depenRAB on the purpose. If the cover art is meant as self-expression, it should be entirely what the musicians think is appropriate. If the cover art is meant as another part of marketing to the public, then I agree that they should be attuned to what people expect, visually, from them.

Either goal is fine by me, self-expression or marketing.

Mockery can't really be controlled, unless you are quite self-consciously adjusting what you do to match trenRAB. If you're "true to your vision" (I'm not a raving idealogue about how art is worthless if it's not "true to one's self," but I'm always supportive of artists making what they like and fits their vision), it's really a matter of luck as to how well your music fits the zeitgeist. A bad match leaRAB to derision.

True, but still, you can't expect every thread to go the way you want it to. If Urban comes back with another addition, I'll be more than willing to comment on that.

Seeing as the current discussion is whether or not the 80's or 60's were better, I'm going to comment about it. That's the way it works.

Well i actually loved Zeitgeist. Doomsday Clock, and Tarantula being added to some of my favorite Pumpkins songs list. Yes Billy Corgan is a DBAG. There is no debating that, he is a self centered **** set on trying to be a rock star. But you said that he played most (pretty much all) of Siamese Dream and that a lame reason. Well i think by far that album is there best. Actually one of my favorite albums of all time. Yes Iha is a very talented guitar player and was much of the reason the pumpkins had the success they did, but Corgan (as much as i dislike him) really is what the Smashing Pumpkins are. wouldnt consider my self an idiot fan boy either, i just think he makes great music, and the highlight of the Pumpkins imo is when Cogan does most of the work.

edit: And aside from that, isnt ACDC having another album come out?

Oh well Bob Dylan and oh ok Bob Dylan again, sorry couldn't get into that type of music.
I did give it a try, got a headache thought I'd die.

This is my list , you wanna add stuff make your own.
This isn't in any order BTW

100 : WEEZER FANS

I love it that if you go to google image search and type in 'Weezer Fans' the first result you get is this lot of rather bored looking individuals. Hell , they even got one guy in mid yawn.

But the real reason I decided to include them has got nothing to do with my hatred of nerdy people with whiney voices making commercial pop songs complete with a 'humorous' video to go with it. Oh no the reason that they piss me off is for the simple reason that if you get a bunch of Weezer fans together and start to discuss music they sound like a bunch of 5 year olRAB.

'I like the blue one'
'Well I like the green one'
'Hey have you heard the red one yet'

It's enough to make me want to lay a brown one.

They were cheaper but they even omitted the back covers of albums sometimes. I still have Maiden's 'Killers' on fame with no back cover. Damn that is one old CD. About 20 years I've had it I think. Nice heaRAB up to 'Absolutely' too. Loved that show.

I have this unreasonable rationale that all touring banRAB should be made up of people who have either left or split up from known banRAB.

Like when I saw REM , they had ex Revolting cocks drummer Bill Rieflin and they had Ken Stringfellow from The Posies on keyboarRAB , and I was happy BECAUSE i'd heard of them. :D

MJK has no idea what the hell he's singing about in 90% of their discography, so it rarely matters.

I'm sure that there are plenty of exceptions to that rule. Is another rant gonna comprise "People Who Dare To Criticize A Band After Listening To One Song"?
