An Infinite Number Of Things That Pisses Me Off About Music

hedley is a perfect modern example of the failings of the canadian content laws governed by the CRTC (canadian radio telecommunications commission). basically every broadcaster who wants to keep a license in canada has to broadcast X amount of canadian content per hour or face fines / suspensions.

the frontman for hedley was canadian idol finalist a few years ago which pretty much guaranteed some airplay and a place in the market. like most idol finalists it should have been a one hit wonder, but they're obviously willing to play the game, and so long as they do broadcasters will keep playing their crap as an easy way to hitting their cancon targets.

59 : That Shitty Generic Nu Metal They Use On Every TV Clip Show Ever
If you look at the picture above you'll know exactly the type of TV shows i'm talking about here. Ones with high speed police chases , motor racing crashes , extreme sports people falling from a great height , stunts gone wrong , surfers stacking it ... you get the idea.
Yes I watch them , and yes i'm not proud of it either but there's bugger all else to watch at 4am. And it would be nice just to watch one without some durab speedy riff going on and on and on while the guy doing the voiceover makes endless unfunny jokes. Occasional you'll get a singer during this 'song' who won't actually sing anything he'll just go 'RRRRRRROOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRR' every few minutes. I don't know why I even need to tell you as I bet you have it in your head as soon as you saw the picture.

Personally i'd use classical music , I think seeing cars piling up into each other to that may even be poetic.

I don't care about quality or anything, my gripe is that people who take pictures at gigs are far too eager to boast about where they've been later on, rather than actually enjoy the damn gig at the time.

There's some great artists there, but it sounRAB like you're judging recent hip-hop simply by whats in the mainstream.

One thing that pisses me off.. .is people pretending to like music when they know in they're heart they dont really dig it..

Now this could happen for various reasons. The most common is your tryign to identify yourself with a particular genre or culture to be accepted whtv. Basically to make other people like you more.

Like for instance, the certain type of music snobs that only listen to the most obscure music; only to prove to everyone else that they know a whole hell a lot about music, and they discovered this song and so on. Dont worry readers another thing that pisses me off is that there really is a lot of great undiscovered music. So this type of pretender is only half bad.

And of course there's the single genre listeners. The pure rap fans, classic rock, country, could be any genre basically. There is only one word ignorant.

And keep in mind that some of these people are so ignorant for so long that they forget that they really would enjoy something else more. In this day and age there is no excuse, unless of course your Amish.

Seriously I say it I'll listen to whtv makes me feel good. Im gonna throw this out there Britney Spears song Toxic is jammin. I dont care if she proally had nothing to do with actually producing the song. When I listen to it it makes me feel good.

11 : Winehouse

I should have done this around the same time as Doherty but never mind.
I hate Winehouse for the total opposite reason I hate Doherty. Doherty is a no talent waster , Winehouse has talent in buckets but is pissing it away.
I might even have sympathy for her but I can't seem to find any as all of her problems are self induced. I just can't bring myself to feel sorry for someone for someone who spenRAB the night shooting anything & everything with her scummy rich kid who never grew up husband and then cheating people who have paid money to see her by cancelling or putting on half assed concerts.

I keep on seeing people telling the media to leave her alone but let's be honest if she didn't do any of this stuff they wouldn't be interested and would leave her alone anyway.

I'm bored of this soap opera now.

I didn't say I liked them, but a lot of them have the talent and have the influence, most are in the mainstream from Foo Fighters to Puddle of Mudd etc.

You're a complete div to not understand grunge's influence on music.

I'm somewhat under 5 foot and take pictures at gigs... but I don't use a camera phone, I use a 10.1 megapixel digital camera so I have some quality to my pictures.

I think alt rock purists and hipsters hate so called alternative banRAB like The Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam and Blind Melon for their classic rock influences more than anything, which is supposed to be like treason or something. Granted there are banRAB like Dinosaur Jr but they have that sh*tty "we just recorded this album in our garage" production that makes them cool and acceptible.

Its all about that so called bullsh*t "authenticity", so I think what Urban said about punk fans applies to indie fans as well, for the most part.

Just look at Pavement, as soon as they learned how to actually play their instruments and record an album that dosen't sound like it was pieced together in 5 minutes in some outhouse they "sold out".

Fuck it.................

101 : People Who Think Cheesy 90s Dance Songs Are 'Classics'

You might think that the UK in the mid 90s was an era where the likes of Blur , Suede , Pulp , Radiohead & Oasis ruled the place. You'd be right to a certain extent but while most of the people I knew around that time did like those banRAB they preferred this crap a hell of a lot more.

I still know people who think that stuff like Insomnia by Faithless , Children by Robert Miles and You Are Not Alone by Olive are classic songs.

I hated them then and I hate them now. the only reason I tolerated them back then was either due to alcohol consumption or because I was trying to get into some girls knickers.

Have you ever listened to a Fatboy Slim album in the cold harsh light of 2008. My God it's depressing. I found myself wondering what drugs I was taking in 1998 to even consider buying such crap. Let's just say his material has not aged well at all. I see they're still making those shitty Ibiza compilations which surprised me. I thought that type of dance music died about 7 years ago. I thought most dance music these days were just a load of daft punk clones. Not particually original but a damn sight better then the crap it replaced.
