An Infinite Number Of Things That Pisses Me Off About Music

1. Because covers should reflect the music. Simple as that.

Punk covers should look like this

Metal covers should look like this

Indie covers should look like this

And prog covers should look like this

Pretty basic knowledge. If you sound like Aerosmith than for the love of god don't seek out Hipgnosis for your cover art.

2. I'm just describing a scenario. But if I see something with Roger Dean cover art, I would almost automatically assume it's progressive rock, album art should indeed be a pretty good indicator of what kind of music it is. What f*cking kind of punk or indie band would seek out Roger Dean for cover art?

LOL!!!! damn that's funny. I suck for I am guilty of this.

This list rules so far.

Tommy Lee flipping upside down while keeping a beat is rather entertaining but I agree... not necessary.

I think you'd like Kulara.

Emo was always an offensive term, mentioned in a Erectus Monotone song as an insult in the early as '91. Just out of pure curiousity what have you heard that you don't like?

I hate the fact that the majority of pop acts are now prominently featuring banRAB with real instruments backing them up. Don't get me wrong, I love the banRAB (I am in one), but hate that they are trying to look cool and have more cred just because they surround themselves with top gun players but pay them squat, not to mention blame them for screwing up when not being able to lip synch to the right song...Ashlee Simpson...cough...

They also have a habit of comparing banRAB that should never be compared, and by that I mean any modern band that could be considered progressive rock in one way or the other.

"Tool try so hard to be progressive, but they just don't have the talent that Dream Theater does"

"The Mars Volta try so hard to be progressive, but they just don't have the talent that Tool does"

"Radiohead try so hard to be progressive, but they just don't have the talent that The Mars Volta does"

"Sigur Ros try so hard to be progressive, but they just don't have the talent that Radiohead does"

"GoRABpeed try so hard to be progressive, but they just don't have the talent that Sigur Ros does"

And so on and so on.

Sh*t like that especially bothers me.

I know where you live, so I know you're lying.

I haven't listened to Pittsburgh's radio in years, more or less since I got my iPod, but I had for the longest time, and it wasn't pretty. I grew up listening to WXDX and WDVE, and both just spouted derivative crap (I can't get them where I live now). The deejays are TERRIBLE (Alan Cox was the last good one, and he got fired because of some prick I know), and the closest thing we have to "alternative radio" is Bob FM (96.9). I catch myself listening to NPR on occasion over the weekenRAB to try to pick up some jazz, but apart from that, I haven't discovered shit through our radio.

I guess I don't go for the trashy image, unless it's somewhat subdued and it's someone amazing like Mary Weiss (who's also blonde, so it sort of kills my original statement, but as the cliche goes, there's an exception to...).

I love Mike Myers when he has to start talking again, and even when they cut to Chris Tucker, even Smokey is like, "damn your crazy"

Awesome; But seriously give a Black Man a chance.

He's so creative.
