An educated decision on moving to Canada?

My husband and I currently live in the United States. We are hard working, educated people, who have been thinking about moving to Canada. If we decide to move it will take time, but at the moment we are trying to research so we can make an educated decision if whether or not the move is best for us and our family.

We are aware that no country is perfect, and so we want to know if there are a few things that Canadians don’t like about their country.

Are there any people who lived in the United States and moved to Canada that could give us feedback on their move, and what has been the lasting impression of these two countries?

I have a few questions that I have had, but haven’t been able to find information:

1.) How many pets can you bring to Canada? We currently have two dogs and two cats, but it could be that by the time we move it could be one less =(

2.) What are the post-secondary schools like? How expensive are they? It seems like over here in America a person has to get half a million dollars in loans (depending on their career choice), but then you are left slaving away to pay it back.

3.) What are the major work industries in Canada?

I think that is it for now. I hope that the answers I receive are not hateful but helpful.

Canada is a great country, you won't have to worry about health care anymore, im pretty sure education here is cheaper but very high quality.
 
Unemployment in Canada is almost as bad as the US. Jobs are very hard to find in any industry. So unless we know what you folks have in the way of fdegrees or skills, the rest may be moot as you may not be let in anyway.

Bring all the animals you have as long as you have vaccination cerficates for them.

The post secondary schools are better than US public schools but the top US private schools are better still.
 
As far as pets are concerned, bring as many as you want. As long as the dogs and cats have their shots up to date and the others are healthy (get a vet certificate) you will be fine.

Post secondary schools are pretty good actually. The costs, I think, are reasonable. It cost me approx $15,000 for my undergrad degree and the Masters I am working on will cost me approx $20,000 +/- by the time I am done. Of course, I will have done them both while working full time so those costs only include tuition and books. Any college/university website lists their costs per course so it's all out there.

As for major industries, I'd say its about he same as in the US. Nothing out of the ordinary as far as I can see.
 
For question 3:

University is much cheaper here in canada than it is in the united states because i believe that the government pays for the majority of your tuition is payed by the government, so depending it is usually only like 6 thousand or something instead of several hundred thousand.
