Alright, this is fucking ridiculous v. BP and it's financial responsibility

what were the odds that the BOP would fail?
What were the odds that BP wouldn't be able to contain the spill within two weeks?
What were the odds that that BP (in the drilling business for the better part of a century) would get this one so wrong?

we could do this all day

seems to be a good question and reason to shut down at the very least thier rigs and see whats what.

What are the odds that the government would fail the people (on multiple occasions) and have over $80 trillion in real and promised debt?

What are the odds that the government would be able to stop the leak within two weeks even if they did something on day 1?

What are the odds that the government (in the government business for the better part of nearly three centuries) would get all those other things so wrong?

we could do this all day

very good if you paid attention to the last 70 years..
so you believe the govt should have taken over capping a leaking oil well from day 1?? And who would they get to do it?? navy SEALS are badass but not THAT badass

and none of this has anything to do with the FACT that BP fucked up and there are repercussions for that that they have to deal with.

The government can't do shit, and that's the point. So what do they do? They blast the experts.

But then again, what do you expect from loser Democrats, who are backed by the group who has EARNED this motto ... Those that can do. Those that can't teach.

The government, since they can't do a fucking thing, should shut the fuck up until AFTER it's over, so BP doesn't go bankrupt, THEN start the blame game.

after WHATS over..capping the well? paying off the injured and inconvenienced? cleaning up the spill over 3-4 coastal states?
with the exception of the capping all that other stuff isn't going end for YEARS..

And the gov't speaking hasn't influenced the market on oil.. The oil leaking millions a week and the picture of oil drenched animals has done more than anything obama has said..if anything hes BEHIND the curve on angry outbursts.

Did you miss the thread on BP's response plan?
It was full of errors and glaring omissions.

What I'm saying is that they shouldn't have shut down the drilling....but they should have instituted rigorous short-term blanket policies to govern all drilling. If that cost companies money...such that workers are fired because the price of drilling isn't meeting the money earned...then BP should be held responsible for that.

The problem right now is that there is no plan for what if another platform goes down. If there's another accident we're fucked...beyond our already state of fucked. While I don't think they should have completely shut down drilling, I can see the short term policies hurting companies to the point where they need to lay off workers. Which would be the fault of BP.
