my amp cuts off and i have to turn it off and then back on when I turn the volume up. there are two status lights light on the amp a power light and a fault light the fault light turns off but the owners manual says if there is a fault that the light will turn red. all connections are secure and the power is connected directly to the battery. when i turn the boat on the amp does not cut off. i just don't know why a fully charged deep cycle battery wouldn't power the amp wiyhout the help of the altenator woul a capacitor help this problem or is something wrong. the amp is 600 watts rms and the sub is 300 watts rms is this a problem. the stereo shop said this was a good match because the amp can't put out 600 rms. do i possibly need a w6 instead of a w3

No a capacitor would be more of a problem and pointless.

maybe get a new amp. b/c if your battery is fully charged and the wire are all correct...and your positive that all the wire are correct. maybe the amp is bad.
or pay a audio specialists to look it over. thats what i did after i installed a system myself. he charged me $25 to look over everything and he found 2 problems
