Alien Prequel

Well, if it actually comes to fruition, with Ridley Scott involved! I can't get excited about anything that guy does, as far as I'm concerned he's only made two decent film in his career, Alien and Blade Runner, two heavily stylistic films that were a fresh breath when they were made, and although they stand up very well today, Scotts visual style is just not there any more.

Funny enough, those are the exact two movies I like of his too. Must be a popular thing... I was pinning my hopes on him refreshing the Alien movies, but when Fox started requesting he take the tone down a notch or two for the sake of money, I expected him to stand up against them. Apparently, I was wrong  Still, I have Alien and can always go back to it when I want. :o

Just the thought of that certificate makes me think of the word "dumbing down". PG-13 movies don't allow for the same quality of scares as the original had. :(

Need to be an 18 otherwise pointless, sure they are making them teen friendly to sell toys, amazed when I see action figures available for Predator and Aliens!

PG-13 + Natalie Portman = massive disappointment for me.

For some reason I had high hopes about this one at first, but Portman has been dire in everything since Leon and the studios desire for a "family oriented" Alien movie will just lead to another AvP type turd.

Was really hoping for a proper adult character/story based movie, but seems we are getting yet another dumbed down turkey. Why don't they just farm it out to Disney and get it done in vivid colour cell animation with a cutesy talking animal just to really kill it off once and for all.

I take it that the R rated 'Predators' didn't do too well for Fox...

If its PG-13 i'll still see it because its Alien, but my expectations for it will be dashed considerably. You'd have thought that Fox would have learned from the critical and audience panning that AVP got...

The thing is being PG-13 in the states doesnt mean it will be a 12A. Alien Vs Predator is a PG-13 but a 15 here thus being able to retain alot of the violence but also bring in the money.

Movie making is a business so of course they want it rated lower for more cash.

The first Aliens V Predator was kind of lame. There was no real bloody violence at all, and the storyline was quite appalling. There are some pretty decent 12 rated movies out there, but Alien doesn't belong in that category. I doubt the original movie would have been "as" good if it were not for the 18 rating.

lets start a Facebook page to protest againt the proposed rating!!!!
sometimes this kind of thing works and film makers sometimes take notice.
