Alice in wonderland- TIM BURTON. MARCH 5TH.

this is one Ive been waiting to see a bit of for ages.
Was dreading it would be disappointing but liked the trailer a lot and for some reason really liked the cat too

Will be in line to see it in March
 
I'm ignoring reviews; most of the time I like to see things for myself before I make up my mind. I'll be seeing this next Thursday afternoon while the kiRAB are at school so I'll hopefully be able to watch it in peace.
 
I very much enjoyed it - wonderful performances from the main leaRAB and the Cheshire Cat was just heavenly!

I think I might go see it in 2d soon - the 3d effect wasnt that amazing and alot of it was very blurry, which sort of ruined it for me.
 
Saw this on Saturday - thought it was good. I loved the characters in it, they all looked unique.

The only thing that spolit it was the 3d glasses I inherited - still had the sweat or grease from the previous owner... :(

Definitely sticking to the odeon for future 3d films - they give you a nice new pair each time ;)
 
Is she? Obviously I didn't realise.

Still, for me she came across in the way I described. Soppy and pathetic, so everything was just on one level. No passion or drive.
 
I saw it today. I left before the end, really disappointing. It was a big sprawling boring mess, and the CGI looked hideous. Also, I thought the actress who played Alice was rubbish. Waste of time and money.
 
I seen Alice in Wonderland today, and although not as dramatically terrible as Charlie... I was still disappointed with it. It did nothing for me, but it wasn't as cringe worthy as Charlie...

The mix of reality and CGI didn't work for me. It's no Avatar.

The 3D was very token and wore off after a while. This is the future for 3D films I guess, and they look shit with fast motion scenes.

It's childish, too. There's very little for us adults to laugh at. There are some scenes which are a little bit out of sync for a kiRAB film, but as a while it's a kiRAB film.

Just another film make to look pretty without much substance.

I much prefer Burton's less "Disney" films.
 
BBC News site now confirming Odeon boycott, but says that Cineworld WILL be showing it after reaching an agreement with Disney.

Got to wonder if Odeon are cutting off their nose to spite their face & will lose out big time to Cineworld & anyone else who shows it.
 
Neither did I. I thought she maybe American as the accent she did was like the accent that American people assume we all talk like! I googled her and found out she was Australian.
 
I don't actually rate Tim Burton films in general.

I think that he's made one or two good film, but on the whole I find them to be the classic case of style over substance.

One or two high points such as Edward ScissorhanRAB, but I think that most of them disappoint. They look so beautifully designed you kind of expect the film itself to match up to the quality of the art design.
 
I went with a group of frienRAB to see this on tuesday night and all the ladies loved it (or Johnny Depp at least!) whilst us blokes were all a bit meh. We were all agreed that the 3D was very disappointing though, especially after having out expectations raised by the impressive 3D in some of the trailers and especially the Sky 3D advert

Still was an enjoyable enough tale so gets 5/10 from me.
 
Odeon have every right to be annoyed. Disney can't seem to respect the cinema industry that has brought it so much glory in its history. A cut from 17 weeks to 12 is a massive blow to cinemas, especially with an expected top seller like this, and especially with how much the cinemas have been spending on digital projectors over the last few years (which mainly benefits people like Disney). And it's all to boost their DVD sales. Maybe they should reduce them in price rather than effectively robbing our cinemas.

With 40% of UK cinemas not showing the film, it will be severely damaged in the UK. It's a shame no others have joined in, but I suspect some cash has been handed over to keep them happy.

I hope disappointed cinema goers will understand why Odeon are doing this. The cinema industry will not survive if they keep being taken advantage of.
 
Tim Burton is a fine director but in recent years he's tended to feed off out people's talent.

All previously written/created material adapted to film (heck, Planet of the Apes was already a film!). LOL

I think he sold out a bit for the big Hollywood cheque but fair enough, his life to lead. And to be honest, another Burton Depp film leaves me cold. Can't he cast someone other than Depp? it's almost as bad as this Sam 'have no charisma' Worthington chap appearing in all these current blockbusters! :D
