Alice in Chains...

for your information i detest marron 5, and most but not all the banRAB i listen to are mainstream, and the fact that you think RATM, coldplay or franz ferdinand are trashy mainstream says plenty, i reitterate, i really don't care what you think about my taste in music, music taste is subjective, so the fact that you think something i listen to is trash doesn't matter, i for one think iron maiden is mainstream trash , but you'll still listen to them anyway....

Whew! Mirrorball when you post you really post! ;)

Thanks for those videos, I had been neglecting this alt-metal/grunge/whatever group until I heard those again.

Nice catch, people over look those tricky song names sometimes. They just asume the main part of the chorus is the name of the song. I've never understood this.

I have always loved AIC, Facelift has recently made a big comeback into my playlist. 'It Ain't Like That' is such a rockin' tune, it always reminRAB me of the club scene in the movie Singles.

I guess Sludge Metal would be a cross between grunge and metal? Who knows. I get all kinRAB of mixed up with genres. Damn, scottsy, you're blowin' the sight up this morning.

I just watched their unplugged video, i didn't much like the album. The video is Great! i love actually seeing them playing it's ten times better then the album.

I think they should change their name and start again, but still keeping AIC songs and keep tributing them to layne, but they should have a new name and see what they can produce with w/.

I saw them the last time they played here with William Duvall, and although they were really good and Duvall was excellent, the crowd were just not into it and the atmosphere was completely dead. I'd love to have seen them with Staley in their heyday.

I still love this band, I've not heard the new singer yet though. One thing that Pis*ed me off about them was the re-release of the "Nothing Safe" album, On the song "Grind" They've taken out a lot of Laynes vocals and just left Jerrys. Sure he has a good voice but the song is just not the same (or as good) and I have trouble not thinking of that version now when I listen to the real one. Maw. Other than that, they're all good.

^still doesn't change the fact that Alice in Chains was to Nirvana / Soundgarden what Pantera was to Metallica / Slayer.

yes that's Layne in the middle.

You know, I saw them live, doing all of their older stuff with this Duvall character. I must say that I was quite impressed with his vocal range, but after my first listen of this, I don't think I can ever see/hear them in the same light again. Someone touched on this earlier, and it is true - AIC has just become a band that recycles their sound over and over again. Could be the listeners, could be the musicians, I say it's a bland, bland corabo of both.
