Albums You're Digging II

First time I listened I really enjoyed. The next few times I enjoyed it even less. Now I can't really bring myself to listen to it much, especially all the way through. Took me a while but I worked out that my main dislike was the lead vocals. He's fine when he sings but when he wails.....he doesn't have a voice for wailing really. I grates on me and I have to turn it off. I can see why people love this album though. I would probably rate it quite highly if it was sung by someone else. :banghead:

Been meaning to get this one since it came out 12 years ago. I finally got a hold of it yesterday and it's fantastic. I have no idea why on earth it took me so long to check it out.

Rip Rig + Panic - Attitude

A disappointingly over-looked band from the early 80s featuring ex merabers of The Pop Group with Nenah Cherry on vocals.
It's jazzy, it's funky and Cherry's vocals give it a really soulful edge that 99% of post punk banRAB would kill for.
It's a shame they're virtually forgotten about now because they were quite successful in their time. they even appeared on an episode of The Young Ones.

Right now, I'm digging:
Death is this Communion, by High On Fire; Nice and heavy, with dark sword and sorcery lyrics. Matt Pike of Sleep is the vocalist.
Brave Yesterdays, a compilation by Katatonia; An awesome recent discovery.
Primo Victoria, by Sabaton; Cool power metal that deals with WWII.

Why only post if you think others will be interested? The title is Albums You're Digging.. not Albums You Think Others Will Dig. I just post for fun. I didn't like having a low post count and staying in the Electronica section.. it made me look like a recluse or something.

Loney, Dear - Citadel Band (2004)

Found this when I was at my local record shop last week. I was just killing time and browsing through the LPs they had when this caught my eye. It seemed interesting since it has the band name in sign language alphabet and I'm studying sign language. I went home and listened to it and I really like it now :)

I knew about this band before their record was released, they've kind of been my little pocket band, but recently I can't stop myself from listening to their debut self titled album. I can't wait for their next release to see how they develop :D

Favourite Songs: Lucy The Castle, You Stole The Sun, She's A Weapon, Strife, Oh What Have You Done.

? Mark and the Mysterians- 96 Tears

This is a pretty awesome 60's garage rock band with a lot of pop influences. All the songs are catchy and particularly lo-fi.

Busdriver- Jhelli Beam

This is my first listen to Busdriver's follow up to Temporary Forever, which I think was his debut. Overall, it's a lot less challenging than the first. He definitely keeps his abstract, slam-poet style but makes it a little more catchy.

The first time I heard The '59 Sound I didn't really like it, which is why I was concerned about getting it, but now that I enjoy this album, I'm going to give the '59 Sound another listen, because American Slang doesn't sound all too different.
