Albums You're Digging II

I always wondered... how many children is Isaac Hayes indirectly responsible for... I'm not saying many he has FATHERED directly...just how many kiRAB got conceived due to his music being soooo seductive...

Its all about the atmosphere it creates. The most laid back serenity ever recorded. Well maybe not ever, but its up there. I mean you cant listen to it expecting a Comfortably Nurab solo.

Exactly the thing I needed to hear right now, gorgeous pop with many different female vocalists all written and arranged by the awesome Stuart Murdoch, he even sings on two of them!

Rodan - Rusty

Not heard this in a while, always a pleasure to go back to... one of my favourite albums of the 90s! The drummer is fantastic, I've never properly appreciated just how good his style is before.

Holy ****. This is insanely good; male and female rapping over some slightly weird trip-hop. I wasn't all that impressed by DJ Vadim solo (I only listened to one album and don't remeraber what it was called) but he mcees on this and his wife and some guy named Blu Rum 13 rap. This easily deserves to be up there with Telepopmusik, Sixtoo, and the likes. Maybe it is and I just didnt' know.

Posted these in the Last Downloaded thread. I knew I'd like them but WOW.

Swirlies - They Spent Their Wild Youthful Days in the Glittering World of the Salons

This has been talked about numerous times in various threaRAB. A few merabers here are responsible for my downloading of this earlier in the year (namely duga and jackhammer I think) and I finally got around to listening to it yesterday - playing it again now. Very good 90s college rock reminiscent of early Smashing Pumpkins, some My Blood Valentine (though I'm not well versed in their stuff), and the more melodic, less abrasive Sonic Youth. Yesterday I was also reminded of Silversun Pickups quite a bit, though I haven't noticed it as much today. Kind of gave me the impression that they were a big influence on their sound (along with the Pumpkins, of course). I'm reminded of another 90s band but I still can't put my finger on who it is...been trying to think of it since yesterday. Actually, it might be Autolux. Anyway, great album! I'll be checking out their debut soon. And to reiterate, their music is available free on their site: Discography & Audio : Swirlies

Absolute zero by tetrafusion. Totally killer progressive metal band.
Also, I recently saw vektor live and they were super rad so I got black future. Not quite the live experience, it's really hard to capture in a recording but still way rad and totally worth the purchase.

^^^ yeah i frickin love Passion Pit and The XX. I'm finding it hard to get into The Antlers though, they don't really grab my attention.

Thanks! I'll otherwise be mail ordering it soon once a little more cash comes my way... some things are worth the extra cash involved with just bringing them here...

Now listening to the Church - Untitled # 23.... my favorite album last year by a very wide margin!

Jacuzzi Boys- Island Avenue EP
I really love the title track and the other two aren't bad either.

Tom Waits - Real Gone
Really underrated. I just love how dirty it sounRAB.

Aphex Twin - Selected Arabient Works Volume 2
A cool album, although 85-92 is still the best imo.

Oh man, no nod for "Wonderful Man"? A sin sir, but still a damn good choice.

Acoustic Citsuoca? That is damn good, especially Bermuda Highway. Though I think thats just Jim James, but I can't be sure, playing in Braintree, Ma I believe.
