Been digging this one lately. Recommended if you like Peter Bjorn & John, indie pop and of course their 60s influences.

^ Probably my favourite of the Northern Soul Story compilations. A couple of particularly good 'uns off of it...

Some great Aussie stuff tonight for my thirsty ears... in the form of Bluebottle Kiss's "Patient" album.... freaking great songwriting, passionate singing / playing and just a great dirty feel make this album a must, an album i should have dragged out earlier than this!

All The People (live recording from their recent tour together) - Blur

A darn fine selection of Blur songs, wonderfully played with spirit and lotsa oomph... great collection of songs in the setlist, too... a good mix, a little heavier on older material, but no less great for that fact...

Drudkh's third classic and maybe their best. "Blood in our Wells" is very warm and heart-felt for a black metal record. Exquisite melodies and some guitar shredding.:)

All I've been listening to lately is Swans and Wire, but I've found time to check out the Dog on Wheels EP from Belle and Sebastian. I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised at how much I like it. Completely unexpected.

Good album that, if a bit patchy.

You should check out their Mollusk album and don't be put off by the fact they're comedy rock because it's good stuff. I wasn't as impressed by Chocolate and Cheese but it's not bad. I still haven't heard Pure Guava.

:tramp:

Love that album. Sodom is my fav of the German lot and M-16 is actually a pretty decent piece of modern thrash.

Funeral - The Arcade Fire

I can't believe how criminal it was of me to overlook this very fine album all those years ago, only halfway through now and am totally rediscovering it's complete unmitigated awesomeness! I am loving it very very much!

When the vocals come in on "Twelve", I always get shivers. Great album.

Massive Attack - Mezzanine

I've slowly grown to consider this album a full-blown masterpiece. I used to lose interest by the first "Exchange" had worn off, but I've slowly been building up the balls to tackle such an amazing album in its entirety. Trip-hop has always been a breeding ground for various styles but the way this can blend soul, jazz, hard rock, and pure electronic together is just not fair to anybody else. Top that all off with the fact that this album is thickly coated with the darkest, most brooding textures imaginable and you have trip-hop's swansong.

The vocals... Oh my God the vocals. Elizabeth's Fraser's performances on "Teardrop" and "Black Milk" are both out of this world, as are Andy Horace's on "Man Next Door", "(Exchange)" and "Angel". 3D's whispering effect on "Mezzanine" and "Inertia Creeps"... They all perfectly tie into the mood and emotion in each song. Getting lost in these songs is incredibly easy, but seriously analyzing them for their musical merit is also not a hard task.

What really sealed the deal was hearing it through a good pair of Sennheisers. The quality headphones along with the musical texture that is almost made specially for headphones just made it that much better.

I'm gonna have to explore the South American scene a bit more - I do have a reasonable amount of reggae, but it's all either British or Jamaican. Any other banRAB you think I should keep an eye out for?
