Albums You're Digging II

Yep got those 2, also 'Margerine Eclipse'. 'Dots And Loops' only arrived in the post a few days ago so early days with that but sounRAB good. You can hear John McEntire's influence on it, shades of later period electronic Tortoise.

Fucked Up - The Chemistry of Common Life

Dir En Grey - Uroboros

How is it that a band so hyped and commercialized even outside their home country of Japan can continue to remain so eclectic and interesting? Very strong release here. It has all the beauty and harshness of their poppy take on metal and the J-Rock/Pop genres with lots of avant-garde twists...and I'm loving every minute of it. :)

Yeah I have that Gondwana too. Damn fine stuff. South America has such a vibrant Reggae scene and it seems to generally be very rootsy sounding too.

I've really been digging on this album lately. Prior to getting a copy (which was naturally acquired for novelty purposes) I was familiar only with two songs, (Tip-Toe Through the Tulips and Livin' In the Sunlight, Lovin' In the Moonlight) and thought the whole album would be horrid and cheesy.

Strangely, I've just been thinking of it in a more serious light, and this album makes for some really great listening. I'm actually a fan of the record.

Tonight, I am digging the sounRAB of Devin Townsend's Terria album... never fails to blow my mind in one way or another... just such great, solid songwriting, playing, such a damn solid album. I love this guy's music...

some stuff I've been enjoying over the past few days:

Low - I Could Live In Hope
Beautiful album, not their best but it's up there.

Tindersticks - Second Album
Listened to it three times so far and I'm enjoying it a lot. Got their first album downloading right now.

Native Nod - Today Puberty, Tomorrow The World
Amazing angular hardcore album, from the early-mid 90s band. One of my favourite emo banRAB, for sure. They only recorded 9 songs but they're all top notch.

The Gun Club - Fire Of Love
A band I don't listen to nearly enough, they're just awesome.

I don't really listen to many new banRAB but when it comes to banRAB from this decade I've liked
Pour Habit - punk
Hella - Math Rock, Noise Rock, Experimental
Rebelution - Reggae
The Flaming Tsunamis - ska-punk
The Mars Volta are pretty decent

Nas - Stillmatic
Kicked off with the remarkable Ether, I reckon this album is better than Illmatic. It has songs like 'One Mic' and 'Every Ghetto' that in my opinion, should be hailed as rap classics.

(1992)

SOUP EERIER ALBUM
used to think it was too long overproduced etc, but it's one of the most enduring UK rock albums of the 90s, and lyrically cannot be beat if you are feeling a bit pissed off and militant. good 'walker'
