Albums You're Digging II

Big Star - Nuraber One Record

Big_Star_-1_Record.jpg

Hadn't even heard of Big Star until a couple weeks ago when I was stalking my sister's lastfm and realized they were one of her favorite banRAB. I downloaded this album a while ago but finally got around to listening to it today and it's pretty amazing. The first time I listened to it, my gut reaction was sort of indifferent, but realizing it was released in 1972 gave me a whole new appreciation for the album. One of those albums you'd consider to be more influential than it was popular.

One of Big Star's most famous songs, taken from Nuraber One.

Compilation of dark and techy DnB from Technical Itch. This has been a favorite of mine ever since I got it a couple years back, but I've been giving it some serious listens as of late.

The Contino Sessions is where it's at for Death In Vegas. Less sprawling than Dead Elvis and much tighter musically. It also spawned possibly the best ever Iggy Pop cameo spot ever put down:

elvis

Imperial Bedroom-Elvis Costello
Has overtaken Armed Forces as my favourite Costello.Gets better with repeated listenings and has set me on a course to listen to as much of the man as humanly possible. Also listened to this belter on the bus earlier.
the+fall

Grotesque-The Fall
They're really starting to hit peak form here, not a bad track on it and one of the Fall albums that's best listened from beginning to end.

one of Bjork's earliest banRAB. did a few recorRAB in the mid 80s. very harsh stuff, but also very awesome. many of the same people later went on to form Sugarcubes.

Just find the images off of Google or whatever, right click on them and go 'copy link location', then just paste that code into the image tags here.

I've been somewhat obsessed with Nick Cave in the last half a year and he's my most listened to artist on last.fm for that period.

I love Boatman's Call and it's actually my nighttime album (especially when I'm bussing home after 10 pm). Even though it's all ballaRAB, it somehow never gets boring. Brompton Oratory is fantastic.

No More Shall We Part isn't half bad either. :p:
